Help! New Build arrived can't get monitor to work

If it's the Palit GTX 560 you've received then just plug the cable you have directly into the VGA connector.

Or have you recieved a different card?

Edit

Having seen your post above go HDMI to HDMI.

If your graphics card has a mini HDMI port then that's what the adapter is for.

Mine's different to that. I don't have a VGA port on the graphics card. I've got two DVI ports. Pic below. The only way I can get an image on screen is to connect like thus to the RGB in on the monitor but then I get the white lines.

Tried HDMI cable into the graphics card with the mini adapter but no joy. Do I have to alter settings or something for that to work?... I go through the 'source' on the monitor but no picture with the HDMI cable.

Plug the HDMI lead directly into the back of the motherboard, and then into the monitor, and see what you get then.

Try the same thing with the VGA cable (the one with the blue ends).

Don't use any adapters.

If you get no picture doing that then try removing the graphics card and doing the same thing.

Only thing that works with graphics card attached is DVI port but this is with errors.

Works fine with graphics card removed.

Even me with my incredible lack of knowledge can hazard a guess at Faulty Graphics card?

So if I've got this right it works with the outputs from the motherboard (HDMI and VGA?) but not the HDMI or DVI (with VGA adapter) outputs on the graphics card.

Sounds like a faulty card.

You could try re-seating the card. You did have the power cables in properly?

Is this a pre-built system?

If it is don't they have a collect and return warranty?

Works with the VGA output on the motherboard when the graphics card was removed. Can't get the HDMI to work.

Only worked with one of the DVI ports when the graphics card was installed but with graphical errors on the screen (white lines).

Power connectoes?... It was already pre-installed. I've since remove the graphics card. It was pushed into the motherboard tightly and had two connectors on the right hand side of the card. Does that sound correct?

Im not sure if the 'Samsung B2230H' monitor auto detects display inputs (does anyone know?)

Maybe try pressing the source button on the monitor when trying different cables.

Do you have another monitor you can try with it (or tv perhaps) and another form of computer to try with the current monitor? Take the current one to a friends or something just to test it.

Yes. Those 2 connector's are the PCI-E power sockets.

Tried the source button. It cycles through 'Digital', 'Analogue' and HDMI but only seems to work with the VGA output.

I assume your cycling through the sources on the screen whilst also cycling the connections into the monitor? As in, trying all 3 with VGA, trying all 3 with DVI, trying all 3 with HDMI? Only 1 out of the 3 of each of them should work but you never know.

Try plugging the PC into your TV if it has HDMI or VGA connections.

Try plugging another HDMI device, such as a SKY HD box, blue ray player or upcaling DVD player into the monitor.

Hopefully you'll be able to see if it's the PC or monitor at fault.
