I bought these parts:

Case, Mobo and PSU: £94

SSD 64GB: £90

CPU: £155
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-266-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1944

RAM 8GB: £120

Graphics: £90

I then got everything running fine, and plugged in fine. CPU fan was connected to power, graphics card plugged in PCIx slot with power attatched, SSD plugged in fine. Installed win 7 ultimate 64x. All fans operating.

All working fine. I left it on downloading left 4 dead 2 and went out for several hours. I came back and l4d2 still wasnt done so I watched a film. Then finally it finished and I played L4d2 in highest settings.

It lasted for about an hour, then there was a loud POP and it turned off immediately.

I havent been able to turn it on since (+12 hours). I've tried changing the power supply plug to make sure it wasn't a fuse, but no luck. Nothing lights up or responds when I try and turn it on.

Nothing was overclocked, all at default settings.

I'm pretty upset because I spent 600 pounds on it in the hope that I wouldn't have any problems.

Value psu says it all really, best to get it RMA'ed by the sounds of it.

Have a read around about quality PSU's, CPU @£155 really shouldn't be powered by a £10 PSU, next time I recommend a quality psu like a corsair

Does indeed sound like the PSU. Do you have another you can try?

Post in the customer services forum or send them a webnote.

I'll plug in a spare PSU I have this evening see if that works. The psu is 500watts I think, surely that would have been enough???!?!

Forgot to mention when it popped I smelt burning plastic afterwards, quite strong.

PSU almost certainly, the one review of that box says - "The PSU isnt really suitable for high end gaming graphics cards as it doesnt have the ports needed to power them without 4 pin molex converters. Then again its a value PSU so isnt aimed at gaming."

OCUK should be contacted bit I'd suggest getting a 'better' PSU regardless.

Andi.

Yep deffo the PSU. Had them blow up in my face before when working with customers PC's. Pop and burning smell = PSU :P

RMA - Return Merchandise Authorisation; The returns procedure undertaken to send a faulty item back to the retailer or manufacturer. The customer must receive back either the returned item, a new item of the same type or a different item of the same or better performance. < for you

It's not all about watts mate. Whats the spare PSU you have? If its another value, cheap crap one. Don't bother.

Yeah other PSU is a value one in a crappy PC. I don't really have enough money to buy a new better quality PSU if we are talking about spending around 100 on a new one :( But next month I can but I hate to wait.
/>?
Is there any chance it's damaged my other parts? Do I need to send the whole PC back?

Well there's no telling unless you have a decent PSU to test with, personally if money is tight I would try to RMA all of it as you will not know what is damaged or what isn't

For that system I would recommend this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-034-CS

Learn the lesson that PSU's are not something that you want to skimp out on.

It could well of damaged other components. Nothing else we can really do for you. A better PSU is needed, simple as that. Up to you how you want to handle it now.

I also had an EMU 1820m pci soundcard plugged in which when I bought it was 350, what happens if that is damaged? :-(

Thanks for your help everyone ill leave a support message soon

O.c shouldnt use cheap psus in there barebones systems they can only exspect trouble.

To be fair, The barebones used here isn't aimed at gamers, gaming or dedicated graphic users.

It even states in the description and i quote: "Pre-built and ready to accept your hardware the "Primo Motion" is perfect for the home and business user who wants to add their personal taste to their system."

The review even states a warning about using the PSU for dedicated graphics cards. That PSU is up to the job of what it STATES and use of onboard graphics.
