I'm looking to build a new pc.

I haven't had a gaming pc in a long time, so everything I have is about 10 years out of date.

I'm looking to start again, getting everything except from monitor, mouse and keyboard.

I'm not really sure of my budget, I want to be able to play all the new games. So if maybe you all could give me a bundle for a bit cheaper, and another one if i want to 'splash out a little'.

I need a case as well, just not sure what to get.

What I need:

*Case
*Processor
*Memory (amount?)
*Motherboard
*Graphics
*Sound card
*Hard drive ( and maybe a ssd for the os)
*psu

Thanks all for the help.

Thank you very much, fellow Kentish person.

Any cases you would recommend? If you could post a few, Not really sure on the style I would like.

Hmmm, I think I may go for the original one. Sorry :p
This will all probably need to come out of part of my wage of 2 months, So i'll probably buy the case and all the smaller things first, then the graphics and processor next month.

I would like to buy the build in 2 separate occasions. Firstly I would want a pc that can just run (just internet), after that I will then get everything i need to make it good.

So what should i begin with getting?

I have another pc I can take apart, so do not need fans (if they fit), or ram, and maybe not the PSU (have to find out the one I have) I also do not need to cd drive as i can get a old spare for the time being.

Get items like the case/PSU/DVD that dont age fast.

The CPU is on a good offer price so should be snapped up fast.

If you are reusing very old parts they might not be compatible. Check your optical drive is sata and not IDE as IDE has been dropped from mobos now.

I used the Z9 as a cheaper alternative, it comes with plenty of kit for the price and is a great starters case. If you like the shinobi, id suggest THIS one. It has a side window and includes two fans, RJCs shinobi comes with just one fan.

What I've listed above will get you up and going. You can add the GPU later, a SSD would be nice and a heatsink to OC the CPU. The offers change wednesday but this gives you an idea of what you can get for your money. As stulid said the CPU is on a great offer £20ish saving, be a shame to miss out on it.

Just wondering if that processor is a bit 'overkill' for me. I don't think I need something that good.

Would something like this be good? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-328-AM

I wouldn't switch to the AMD. Right now the only AMD's worth going for are the Trinities but for HTPC builds where space is very limited or budget is tight.

If you want to save money on the Processor get an Ivybridge i3 but it won't last as many years as an overclockable i5.

What do you mean, "it wont last"? Does it wear out after a while.:D

God bless noobs lol

The APU the OP linked was Trinity as well ;)

The AMD APUs have a MUCH better IGP than the Intel CPUs. Whilst it could run games you really would want a dedicated GPU added if you were serious about gaming. The AMD APUs also consume more power than the intel CPUs.

The problem with the FM2 socket is that your choice of CPUs and upgrades are limited. With llano (FM1) it was the same deal, you cant upgrade to trinity APUs on a FM1 mobo. On the 1155 intel socket you could use a pentium G840 (£50ish) let's say and then look to upgrade to a sandybridge or ivybridge i5K much later 2nd hand and overclock it on a Z77 mobo.

In my opinion Llano or Trinity makes for a great choice on "budget" laptops. Yes you could argue they make good HTPCs too. If the OP had a budget it would be much easier to recommend a base for him to build from

Wait whose the noob lol.

I know the APU was a Trinity but like I said its not worth going for unless either laptop, HTPC or budget gaming system.

Its a shame they cant run off of AM3+'s :(

You are a noob Bacon. I'm not saying you haven't learned anything in your time here, I just wish you would stop making out you know more than you do. You didn't mention llano or trinity for laptops, you will from now on i'm sure.

When you joined you were "wasting" peoples money spec'ing crap AMD based systems over intel. You also needed a massive amount of help spec'ing your own build and even putting it together was a mission.

I don't know why you are telling the OP that the Bitfenix Ghost is designed to be quiet. Yes it has soundproofing material but it also has a gapping hole in the ceiling of the case. The fractal R3/4 cases are enclosed and have sound proofing material........those cases are designed to be quiet. The ghost has some interesting features, like the hotswap bay but that is a very niche feature in my opinion. I'll stop waffling now before I end up writing your review on the Ghost for you ;)
