Hi All,

I have the following setup and cant seem to overclock it

Gigabyte M68MT-S2 motherboard with AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.20Ghz processor.

I have looked in the Bios but as soon as I change CPU Unlock to enabled it will not load windows 7.

What settings do I change in the Bios

Also EasyTune 6 does not change the speed it just reverts back to standard

Any help would be great

Cheers

Dex

your trying to increase the multiplyer but its locked

only Black Edition CPU have unlocked multiplyer.

if you go into bios their will be a clockspeed somewhere that should be at a value of 200Mhz
if you increase this and set all the multiplyers to auto but leave the CPU multiplyer at defualt value then your CPU clock speed will increase the other compoments will automaticly be set to stay in a safe speed

a 3.6Ghz is good start for a OC 1st time overclocker

incres the clockspeed that at defult was 200 up by 5 then boot up into windows and cheek that the new set speed is stable.

if stable go back to the clock speed u just changed, and increase by another 5
repait the proces till you reach 225 and your CPU should be running at 3.6Ghz

any further OCing you should have the idea of what to do, but do cheek for a guide of safe voltage for your CPU (idealy the lower the voltage the better)

yes this is normal, its where you aint got it underload its going into a phase called "ideal" where it uses as litle energyas posible becouse u dont need its processing power, if you download prime95 you can put the CPU underload and you should see the CPU speed be around 3.44Ghz

Edit : the speed that your CPU should run at should be fairly close to the clock speed you changed x16 (i.e 215 x 16 = 3440Mhz/3.44Ghz)
