can someone help me with a good solution, i have my pc and projector screen on the same wall and i want to run my projector onto the screen from the opposite wall or ceiling, it'd be easier to put the projector on a floating shelf or maybe some furniture (id have to move my bed but thats cool) just want a neat solution so i dont see many (or any) wires, and keep the distance down so i dont have a massive hdmi run for quality reasons

any floating shelfs or units or any bits of furniture or mounts you can recommend

Just a note but Imagine that HDMI can prob run very long before it stops working. There shouldn't be any 'quality loss' it either works or it doesn't.

What projector is it? If is a DLP you'll have to be very accurate with your positioning as there will be (probably) no image shift at all.
Also bare in mind if it is a DLP, and your shelf mounting you will need it upside down as they will aim upwards (so they can be used on a table in front of a sofa for instance).

EDIT: HDMI will be fine over long runs, I have 10m to my projector and its been perfect for ~18months now. Cost me £11 off eBay iirc.

wicked all good advice thanks, i have just bought a long shelf and it will be slap bang in the middle on the opposite wall, the shelfs not deep enough maybe on 20cm, so just thinking of best ways to secure it at the moment, i have a homemade ceiling mount gymbal so i might drill that onto the shelf, seems like the best bet to get the angle and security

another option instead of a massive hdmi cable is to just use the cat cable from my xbox (which ill likely have on the shelf next to the projector) and then do media streaming, but im not sure if it really streams a proper hd signal or not? can anyone advise?

and last q of the thread :P i have a wall light that i want to take off under the shelf, could that be replaced by a 3pin plug?

With the xbox if you stram the file with wmp in hd it should be exactly the same as the original file. It's fiddly though, no MKV support. So in reality your left with transcoding or re encoding and putting it on a hard drive. I just plug my pc into the projector on along VGA or if I have to use a usb stick with a mkv2vob file but that's with a PS3.

Check eBay for universal projector mounts, I have one for my infocus x9 and its perfect, even has a telescopic arm so you can move the projector back and forwards which makes positioning a bit easier, it also has a tilt function. I got a piece of plastic trunking to hide the HDMI cable running down my wall and painted it so you don't really notice it. I also have a 15m HDMI cable running from my receiver to my projector, no issues and quality is still brilliant.
