looking for a mother board around 200,

looking for a nvidia/ intel mother board,

trying to find some thing with not many issues

such as driver support ect

cheers:)

What do you want from a motherboard? Crossfire? SLI? Decent overclocking? It's hard to recomend something when we have no idea of your spec or aspirations.

i am hopfully sending back my ga-x48-dq6 to be fair there rubbish, cannot even get 4gb running stable.

so what would you guys reco for a q6600 g0, his 4850 turbo, will not go crossfire but want to oc a little if at all!?!

Abit IP35 / P5K Premium or if you want to spend more ££ P5Q Deluxe / Asus Maximus Formula 2.

Sentinal are you having trouble running 4x1GB of memory? It's a common problem, and most boards don't cope well with it.

Rather than changing your board you would be better chucking the ram out and buying 2x2GB.

Apologies for going off on a tangent if you're not trying to run 4x1GB.

ga-x48-dq6 should support 4x1gig fine if you bump the NB voltage +0.1 - I've even had sucess with mixed memory modules running 4x1gig on an gigabyte X48 board.

Hi Halk, tangents are good, i will try anything to get this board to work properly.

I have spent a week up till really late trying all differant settings on loads of forums and still getting no where, only able to get stable using 2gb...

cheers for the reply, i brough these when i got the board OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPX800EB4GK), i can get it to boot with these in, but when i run a 3d game the system locks up, i can use 1 stick and all is ok, no problems, put the other one backin, back to issues

i have also tried 2 lots of these Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) with no look either, can only run 2 at a time...

Ah. In that case I think it's time to find out exactly what is faulty and what isn't.

What you should do is get a memtest iso going.

http://www.memtest.org/

You want to download the ISO file and burn it to a CD, then reboot and boot from CD.

Try it with 1 stick at a time of all the sticks you have. You may find 1 or more is faulty.

Post back with questions, or once you've done it with the results.

I'd run through it for 10 minutes on each stick. If you turn out no errors at all, then do it again for 1 hour per stick.

I suspect if it's 1 particular stick you'll turn it out fast.

nice one, will do that now and report back!!!! i suppose this is part of the fun of it all, really just wanna blast out some games :)

You'll get that warm fuzzy feeling if it happens to be 1 particular stick of ram that's the problem, and you find out without spending more money :)

I've ran 4x1GB on 680I POS (1900 QP FSB) and 780I POS (2000 QP FSB) and on this current P45 (2000 QP FSB) now it runs 4x2GB (2000 QP FSB). ;)

Thats what i dream about doing..LOL

I just want stuff to work!

so..

for the corsair xms2 4 x gb sticks..
I have ran memtest on each of the sticks, in diff slots too! they all passed the tests, left them for about 35 mins each.

so i have no put them all back in and now running memtest again on the lot..

i also tested the ocz 2x2gb sticks they passed memtest also!

i bet its some stupid memory setting in the bios....

there does seem to be a running trend that boards do have issues running 4 slots or 2 x 2gb sticks etc....i cannot for the life of me work out why...

ahhhh...thhis is so frustrating as a past porject i upgraded the ram in my old xbox by soldering the ram chips and that worked first time...go figure

Well, that gets rid of the easy fixes then :P

And I suspect from what you've said already you've tried giving the NB, ram itself etc a bit more juice to no avail.

yeah, got the ram running +0.3, cpu +0.12 (to give a helping hand) mch +0.2 and ram timings are 4-4-4-12, the advanced memory settings are done by spd

the 4 sticks are 76% through memtest at the moment!

also turned off speed step and all that rubish, even down to disabling the serial port etc!!!

its like the never ending story...
