Help please. I cannot install Windows =/

do you have a spare usb stick lying around?

use imgburn and make an iso image of windows and drag it to the usb stick

(might need to make the usb stick bootable aswell if it wont install windows) to do that use

https://rufus.akeo.ie/ then install windows from the usb memory stick (edit see you've tried that already)

also with the usb cd/dvd drive anything in the bios for legacy devices? try enabling/disabling that and see if it installs then

I've done the bootable USB wazza :(

I have literally tried everything yet windows 7 does not like this Crucial SSD lol

I did see the Legacy devices, it talks about handing off something. Didn't understand it but gave it a shot the other day just to see if it made a difference but nope :(

you have a normal hdd to install to? then clone to the ssd? only way I can think of atm

unplug any un needed usb devices aswell and hdd's just incase its halting the install somewhere

It's a gaming PC for my bro so just the SSD and i have just the USB stick or external DVD drive plugged in and the keyboard and mouse.

It is literally fighting me all the way lol.

Hey I had this problem for a clients pc at work. Run command prompt on that page shift and f10 then wipe the disk and it'll allow you to install.

Command prompt - diskpart press enter

List disk press enter - find the disk you need to wipe

Select disk * (* is the disk you wanna wipe so 0,1,2 etc)

Then type clean and press enter.

Now install :)

I tried that before I even posted in here. Unfortunately it didn't work :(

RMA the motherboard, none of this faffing about should be necessary. then get a different one if possible

I had this exact error a few days a go, also on a Z170 mobo when trying to install Win 7.

Ultimately ended up trying to install Windows 10 instead, using the Microsoft Win 10 media/dvd boot program. Worked fine. But be aware you can't then use your Win 7 key to activate it, you have to somehow install Win 7, activate that and then use upgrade to Win 10 feature to get it for free.

Have you disabled any secure boot options in the BIOS?
If you're installing Windows 7 they need to be turned off.
Not sure where the options are though in the Asus BIOS without seeing it :(
It may be under Boot tab, then Secure Boot I think.

If you have a sata optical drive in your pc or spare, why not just connect it up, install windows and just disconnect it again afterwards?
