Help resolving BSOD...

Hey guys,

I've got a new build at the moment.

CPU: Intel i5-3570k @ 3.40GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77-D3H
RAM: Corsair 16GB XMS3 DDR3 @ 1600
GFX: Gigabyte HD 7970 Windforce 3072MB
Hard-drive: OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 128GB
PSU: Corsair TX750W
OS: Fresh install (currently unvalidated) Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

All drivers, etc. are up-to-date.

I've recently been getting random BSODs which I can't pinpoint the cause for. The system is not overclocked and running everything at stock. I can play games such as Crysis 3 on basically full settings and notice no issue (core temps jump to around 45-51oC max) however, doing something as simple as right-clicking and saving a .jpeg can cause a BSOD as it did just 10 minutes ago.

Google seems to be suggesting it's an anti-virus conflict, but since the re-install I have only installed AVG Free.

Similarly, I seem to be getting a few error reports appearing claiming the content index catalog is corrupt.

Before the format/re-install, I was just getting the KP errors. The Search errors seem to be new, but I'm not sure if they're related.

Any helps will be very much appreciated. It's not fun having a new build BSOD on you!

are you setting/enabling x.m.p for your memory?

manually set the bclk to 100 aswell and cpu voltage response to fast,that will help with stability whether stock or overclocked

I haven't touched my RAM clocks.

I'll take a picture of my BIOS to show you what I'm seeing.

you have an ssd and your running ide sata mode? it should be ahci,but download run this reg file first before you change it or it will bsod at startup(it will be much much faster in ahci mode)

once you've run it,restart into bios and set sata mode selection to ahci,save and exit

do that first

then enable x.m.p and choose profile1 which should be 1600mhz ram speed then look for bclk and type in 100 and set the cpu voltage response to fast,save exit and see if its stopped the bsod's

Changed to AHCI. Left it on IDE after some issues with an install (had to use gparted to resolve a bad boot).

XMP is now on P1.

I can't find anything to edit the BCLK or CPU Voltage directly.

pretty sure your board has the options,hers mine z77 up4 th

blck type in 100 into the box

vcore voltage response set to fast

Found them, that helped a lot! My BCLK was set on Auto @ 100.00MHz, but I've changed it manually as you've said.

Changed the VCore to Fast. The rest of those options read Auto for me.

ok,see how it is now for a few days and post back if it bsod's again and ill suggest a few other things to try

I think its bios/memory setting,look and see howmuch cpu/vtt is being used in the bios or in easytune/voltages target

ok see cpu/vtt second screenshot up^^ set it from 1.060v to 1.110v

then see if it bsod's again

having owned this board and cpu myself since last november i have had a number of problems(and still am)but im sorting things gradually,i am gonna keep an eye on this thread,as i have a few suggestions that might help.first thing though change your blck back to auto,this board is very fussy!!

100 or 101 bclk tends to be better than auto,esp if your having instability

yes but my d3h blue screened after i changed my blck from auto,i did however read in a thread on gigabyte forums of making a manual adjustment to 100.10,however when i set this it did not work for me!

Can't set the CPU Vtt to 1.110v. I can either set 1.100v or 1.120v.

I've set 1.100v for now.
