Hey guys,

I've got a new build at the moment.

CPU: Intel i5-3570k @ 3.40GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77-D3H
RAM: Corsair 16GB XMS3 DDR3 @ 1600
GFX: Gigabyte HD 7970 Windforce 3072MB
Hard-drive: OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 128GB
PSU: Corsair TX750W
OS: Fresh install (currently unvalidated) Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

All drivers, etc. are up-to-date.

I've recently been getting random BSODs which I can't pinpoint the cause for. The system is not overclocked and running everything at stock. I can play games such as Crysis 3 on basically full settings and notice no issue (core temps jump to around 45-51oC max) however, doing something as simple as right-clicking and saving a .jpeg can cause a BSOD as it did just 10 minutes ago.

Event viewer is chucking out this:

Google seems to be suggesting it's an anti-virus conflict, but since the re-install I have only installed AVG Free.

Similarly, I seem to be getting a few error reports appearing claiming the content index catalog is corrupt.

Before the format/re-install, I was just getting the KP errors. The Search errors seem to be new, but I'm not sure if they're related.

Any helps will be very much appreciated. It's not fun having a new build BSOD on you!

The XMP is currently set to 'Disabled'. The System Memory Multiplier is on 'Auto'.

Changed to AHCI. Left it on IDE after some issues with an install (had to use gparted to resolve a bad boot).

XMP is now on P1.

I can't find anything to edit the BCLK or CPU Voltage directly.

These are what I have found though:

Found them, that helped a lot! My BCLK was set on Auto @ 100.00MHz, but I've changed it manually as you've said.

Changed the VCore to Fast. The rest of those options read Auto for me.

Just had another BSOD. I was listening to an mp3 whilst browsing the forums. :/

EDIT:

Is it likely a Windows issue?

The CPU Vtt change didn't seem to help.

Windows bugged on me (explorer.exe - server execution failed) after I ran Memtest, so I've had to re-install again.

System has passed Prime95 torture test and Memtest, so I think the problem is the board.

Following some common fixes, I've changed the PEG from Auto to GEN1 and disabled the C3/C6 State which I believe is quite likely the real culprit.

So far, so good. I'll report if I have another BSOD.

Still BSODing! :(

I've tried disabling the other board features but this doesn't seem to have helped.

Starting to drive me up the wall now.

To repeat: It's only doing it when the PC is idle or not being taxed. It's never BSODed during gameplay, etc. Always if I pop away for 10 minutes or am casually browsing online.

Through WhoCrashed or Win7 report?

I don't know if it's related but my SSD had an instance of corrupt files earlier, scandsk auto-ran after rebooting.

Can't do firmware for SSD until my HDD turns up as it'll cause a format. The board is stock firmware too.

I would update the boards first, then use some cloning software to clone your ssd to your new hdd,and boot from the hdd, then you'll know if its the ssd that's at fault

I'm happy to just whack what I need on USB and format/update when the new HDD arrives.

crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\042213-5881-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x75C00)
Bugcheck code: 0x1A (0x41790, 0xFFFFFA8004AED4F0, 0xFFFF, 0x0)
Error: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that a severe memory management error occurred.
This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

I think I would be inclined do a fresh install and then monitor my software and driver installs to find out which is the culprit.

When my new hard-drive turns up, I'll set about updating all the firmware and fresh-install from that. I'm beginning to believe it's the SSD at fault.
