Help Ryan fight his cancer

Praying sure as **** isn't gonna help :)

Amen to that. Whilst i don't dislike religion i certainly don't have one or understand the blind faith although they can certainly teach a lot of lessons of loving everyone it's just a shame that it's not seen like that anymore.

I think it was put excellently in the movie PAUL from 2011, ( im not sure if they took this from elsewhere but i think it's great )

When questioned if they are men of god their response :

"We’re men of science… ya know, we believe in the establishment of a biological order through the maelstrom of physical and chemical chaos."

Hello all, a little update.

I was in Manchester on Wednesday and Southampton today (Monday). The trials they offer that are suitable for me are limited but there are 2 in each. They both offer the same one which seems most suitable for my specific type of disease and genetic markers, so we're going with Manchester. I head back down there next week for a biopsy (small surgical procedure to remove a tumour sample to study) and begin scans and things prior to beginning the trial.

I have options! It's gonna require lots of travel and accommodation as I'll be down for days at a time, and at least once a week for the first few months, so again, with the greatest of sincerity and humblest appreciation, thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far towards helping cover these costs, it really does mean the world to me. (I struggle to read your supportive messages without tearing up or flat-out bawling)

Thank you x

Fingers and toes crossed for you fella. Kick this thing in the nuts and come down to London for a party afterwards!

Let's hope that they can begin the trials :)

Great news and fingers crossed!

Ryan, are you having to pay to stay in hotels during your stays? Just wondered if anyone in Manchester could just put you up?

A step in the right direction :)

I survived cancer in 2011. It was very minor and very treatable in my case so I'm not comparing it to yours in the slightest. But it can be beaten. Stay positive and know that everyone here is supporting you. I'm also on a trial (something called the TRISST study at the Marsden). It's only a trial for post treatment monitoring, rather than actual treatment. But I felt I needed to pay something back to everyone who paved the way for my treatment, by paving the way again for everyone who follows in the future.

The very best of luck. Keep us informed.

That's great to hear buddy, and well done for giving something back. Funny how it changes your perspective on things eh?

Likely B&Bs near the hospital yep. I don't think bunking in with someone would work sadly - sometimes it'll be an overnight, sometimes a few days, sometimes it'll be just me, sometimes it'll be me and my partner and my brother and my step-mum, and I need to be careful around other people as I'll start to get very neutropenic (susceptible to infections) once on the trial drugs.
