Help to upgrade my system or possibly replace the lot?

Yes I’d like to keep the components as long as possible so I’ll go for the 3700x. I mainly play games like Diablo or strategy games like Starcraft along with single player games like red dead redemption 2 etc.
I’m trying to play borderlands 3 but it’s so laggy I can’t bare playing it. Which I know is down ri my pc spec.
Would you mind being specific on the monitor screen ?
The pc is to be as future proof as possible so I can download new releases without the worry of lag issues, or at least the ability to play them on a good high setting.

Thankyou for all your help and input

I would suggest that you instead of keeping components forever. Buy value for money and upgrade more often.

If you want to do a build and have it last you for as long as possible then you require a massive budget.

It's better to buy cheaper more effecient system for the money and then upgrade regularly.

I've bought like 10 gpu's in the past 3 years for instance but in the gaming rig I went

750ti
1050
1060 3gb
1070
1080
2070 super

All bar the 750ti and 2070 super picked up cheap second hand. I bought the 2070 super brand new as it made sense to sell the 1080 for £300, get the 2070 new with warranty for £440 so only £140 for more power and brand new with warranty.

That's the thing all your stuff will be out of warranty within 1-3 years. It makes sense to sell it and upgrade piece by piece.

As my example it only cost me £140 to get a superior card brand new with warranty.

I actually also bought a gt1030 for a media pc but then upgraded to a second hand 1650 super for £120 to then turn that pc into a unraid server with media transcoding. That was a good find on ebay card was brand new too. The guy never ended up using it. Came fully sealed.

If you are planning on upgrading the gpu at some point it makes sense to get the 3600 and get a 4600 in future too.

Your input on CPU's is flat out awful.

The rest of your rambling comes across as a drunkard.

The OP wants a gaming rig with long term use. Very simple! Your suggestions are poor and your mad rambling is, well, as stated.

Long term use doesn't exist.

It makes sense to buy what is capable now without breaking much of a sweat like a 3600 and upgrade when need be.

For gaming the 3600 line is the best one to get for AMD.

Be it the non x, x or xt.

Even the 3300x is fine for gaming so the 3600 is future proofed enough. The 3700 is wasted money and cores.

That £100 could get him a 4600 in future when added onto the sale price of a 3600 and that would destroy a 3700 in gaming.

There is a reason why my gaming rig has a 3600x.

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/cbn8sh/ryzen_3600_25_cpu_usage_in_pubg/

Please explain how a cpu that runs at 20% usage at gaming currently isn't future proofed enough and I would require more useless cores?

Buying a 3700x is like buying a limousine when all you need is a 5 seater and there is only currently 2 of you in Your household. If you happen to have 6 kids get the limo then when you need it. Otherwise all you have is a lot of waste in terms of money and when you need that space there will be better options in future.

Why would I run a limo for 5 years when I could get away with a saloon? Then get a new limo in 5 years time which has much better features? It would be stupid.

I take it you own a 3700? Nothing better than buyers justification for making the wrong purchase. Even for encoding ryzen cpus are crap a 1650 super with nvenc is much better.

You've not addressed a single thing from earlier.

You just keep spewing nonsense without understanding the argument.

Just stop.

Have you addressed any of my points?

Why do I need more cores when I'm at 25% cpu usage whilst gaming?

What makes you think games which are gpu limited are going to need a 600% increase in cpu power within the next few years?

It's on you buddy.

That's how logic works, you're the one who made the initial claim.

I seem to keep using this of late on this forum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illusory_superiority

I'm off to bed pal, you enjoy yourself.

Argh the old trying to put someone down to make yourself feel superior and better. Says more about your own insecurities.

I asked a simple question. Why do I need 600% more cpu power for gaming that is usually gpu limited?

I'm guessing I'll be waiting until 32GB is useful before there is a viable answer to that question.

If you feel the need to try and demean others to feel superior I can recommend some good life coaches who may be able to help you with your confidence.

Just wanted to say thankyou to everyone that helped me,
Especially gray2233, your input was very much appreciated.

No worries mate, glad to have been of help. I'm sure you'll love your new setup!

@Sparx :D

Trying to get pics from my phone onto here seems nigh on impossible. But it’s all built
And windows is installed.
I’m just downloading some games from steam. It runs so fast and boots up like lightning with the ssd. Thanks again for everything guys

Try upload them on www.imgbb.com or www.imgur.com - then just copy the links.

Yeah if it's your first time having an SSD, it's amazing the performance increase just using Windows in general compared to the old clunky HDDs. Let alone loading games up, faster map load times etc.

Glad you got it all up and running smoothly though, happy for you mate. Enjoy :D

Edit: Thinking about it after looking at your old specs again, you'll be even more impressed when you manage to get a new monitor and GPU :p Mainly the monitor though, if you got a nice high refresh rate 1440p panel (or 1080p) you'd really enjoy it I'm sure coming from an old plain 60Hz 1080p display.
