I was looking for help in upgrading/buying a new computer, since im completely, useless when it comes to buying new hardware. Basically im looking for a new PC/upgrade mostly to play games on, such as the new Bad company 2 and do school work which is mostly using photoshop cinema 4d, etc.. My budget is around £450~ give or take a tenner or so.

My current spec is as followed;
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600+
2Gig DDR2
Nvidia GeForce 9500gt

im not sure if im missing anything important here.

I have been linked some stuff on this website to buy for an upgrade, but im not overly confident without getting some more help.

the items have been linked to;
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-042-OE&groupid=43&catid=339&subcat=

Thanks for the help :)

if that's the budget then its a good upgrade, switch the 5770 for a GTX460.

what psu do you have.

I dont know what PSU i've got my brother is convinced its just a 425w, and which card theres like 3 differant 460's, and i have no clue what the differences are :D

get the ocuk one, it will still be made by a good manufacturer, just depends which one ocuk have got stock of, and will only add about £16 to the total.

and do try to find out the make and model of your psu, don't rely on a cheap budget unit to look after your expensive gear.

dont forget the monitor, especially if you are doing photo work. got a nice 24inch already? if not, worth considering in my opinion.

If you are doing photo work and you want a nice 24'', I think the budget is going to be stretched quite a bit. Even though most people around here are loving their BenQ's and the Samsung equivalents by all reports are quite good, they are not especially suited to precision graphical work. It would quite possibly eat up most of the money going towards upgrades by itself. It could still be worth it, but if you want a 24'' and want to say game on it, you will definitely need a GPU upgrade as well.

I would definitely go with a 460 1GB card. Well I say that, having recently opted for an ATI 5850 myself, but different people have different needs. If you are on a budget and everything else being equal, the 460 is the most bang for the buck.

Knowing that i'll have to upgrade my PSU, i think i should find a differant mobo bundle, not sure. my budget is pretty poor

You should be able to sell your gear secondhand to raise enough cash to fund a new PSU.

well, if i was to build an entirely new computer my dad would be using this computer for work so thats not an option, i probably should've put that in the description :(
