Awesome, I shal inform the flatmates :p

I'll send you a mail as soon as we get the Bt line sorted.

Would that be the pro or unlimited?

And is that just the first month or the whole contract?

By the way, I love you :D

Hi Tefal,

It's the same as Be pro, but the O2 'Ultimate' branded version - http://broadband.o2.co.uk//home/index.jsp . The only difference is that you'll have a router with O2 on it instead of Be but be connected in exactly the same way to the same equipment as you would be if you went with Be. It will be £7.50 a month for the duration of your contract, so until you cancel basically. :)

I've connected a few friends from here, it's so easy for me to do so I don't mind at all. You don't need an O2 phone either.

Sounds awesome mate :D

How would I have to go about ordering it though?

Send a mail to my address in my trust, then I'll reply from my work address requesting the info I need from you (address, phone number etc. so not the kind of info you'd want to send to an 'unknown' email!). Then I enter it into a friends and family database and you can then call staff accounts and order immediately. :)

Ok cool, will drop you a line when we get a phone number :p

Wicksta if you wouldnt mind my dads looking for a new bb provider and this would be perfect for him, mind if i drop you a mail aswell?

O2/be without a doubt if its available to you.

They are both the same thing, exept if you have an O2 mobile, you get big discount with O2 broadband....im currently switching from Be to O2 for this reason, even though its exactly the same service. line test shows me a 14meg connection for a tenner a month on O2's up to 16meg package.

No port throttling or contention, speed depends purely on how good the line to your exchange is.

is there any downside at all with the be packages? it all seems to good to be true!
for me i use ftp/usenet/ gaming....
need reliable at all times connection...

have been with bt for years because i always thought dealing with the guys who own the cables is best.....

so between the bt option 4 and BE pro...anything i need to be aware of before making the switch?

thanks

Oh dear.

You're not dealing with "the guys who own the cables", you're dealing with a company with a similar name. BT Retail are no less just another ISP with a BT Wholesale contract as, say, Enta or Zen.

no throttling at all on be?

Nope, what you see is what you get. They also wont give out your IP details unless they are served with a court order demanding it.

It is a no frills connection though, you dont get an email addy or anything, just a connection so make sure you have some webmail accounts active.

Also, if you dont use p2p just newsgroups, theres not much benefit in extra upload speed with the Be pro package, you get a static IP which i suppose is good if you host games and stuff, but thier dynamic IP is hardly dynamic, it hardly ever changes.

So the up to 24meg unlimited deal is probs best if you have a superb line and live next door to the exchange, otherwise O2's up to 16meg package may work out a bit cheaper.

If you line cant handle more than a 10meg DL, then even the up to 8 meg would be cheaper still, if you line could handle 9meg, then you would get a flat 8meg DL speed 24/7
