Hi guys, started a thread like this a long time a go when finances were better but never got around to getting it done or even starting it. Life's moved on and my budget has changed. My current PC is dying a death so will be ordering the parts in the next few weeks.

I need a gaming machine for £1500 at most. Do not need peripherals or monitor. The machine needs to be powerful enough to decimate current games be as future proof as possible, I know future proof is a weird statement so I guess I mean it must be playing games on ultra/high at 1920x1080 for the next 2 years minimum.

Here is what I had together so far.

Corsair 750D
Gigabyte Z87X-SLI Intel Z87 (So I can add another card if needed)
Intel Core i5-4670k (Or wait for 4690k)
Corsair Vengeance Pro Silver 8GB
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 WindForce
Corsair Force GT 120GB
Corsair CS750M PSU
Windows 8.1 64bit.

Total £1,116.88

I have a windows 7 64bit license so im not sure 8.1 is needed. Im not sure if im really picking the most optimal parts for my price range.

Feel free to completely change the build and suggest what you would do with the £1500

Sorry for double post but thought I would add, The types of games I typically play are as follows.

Rust
TERA
Skyrim
Watch_Dogs
Minecraft
Batman series
etc

Mainly RPG's but obviously most of those games are demanding (other than minecraft)

If you wanted to spend £200 more xD

The PSU leaves room for SLI in the future if you would like to consider it

Thanks for the build ideas guys, How does the H105 perform vs the H110 as i have a H110 already. Is there a need to go i7 vs i5?

I see you both picked the same MOBO, Interesting. How do you think a 780 sli system performs compared to 780ti?

780 SLI would be really good. Actually, what I'd be doing is getting the 6GB 780 and then that gives you more room for higher resolutions when you SLI later on. Here's something with two 6GB 780s. If you wanted to go back under, get just one 780. The H110 should perform better, so I took the cooler out :)

You don't really need that much gpu power for 1080P. In fact you could probably go for a 280x/gtx770 at that resolution, although a top end gpu would be a good choice if you intend to go 1440p.

If you already have a H110 then no real need to change it.

If you are just gaming then you can drop down to the i5 4690k. The i7 offers hyperthreading which is useful when doing things like rendering.

Thanks again for your input guys, Im hoping that once build i won't have to change out any parts for 2/3 years so best to over do it for now. Talking to the girlfriend, probably going to go for the single 6gb 780 build Shivvy posted and add a second at a later date.

Well that is what I'd do in your position, get the 6GB 780 - better when you SLI in future and maybe go to higher resolutions :)

Do you plan on changing the monitor ? A 6GB gpu is a bit of a waste at 1080P.

Probably not lee, Not untill higher res come down in price, have been looking today and i can get a very nice 27" 1080p monitor for £169.. higher res seem to start at 300-400.
