I would drop the q9550 for the q6700. I have mine at 3.6ghz.
Its got less cache but seeing as its on offer at the moment and the difference in price its not a bad idea. Saying that i don't think hes looking to overclock and as you'll need an aftermarket cooler + thermal paste with that q6700 on ocuk its only going to work out slightly less than a q9550 (retail) anyway. I'd just go for the q9550 and if you need a bit more performance out of it say in a year or so just buy an aftermarket cooler and overclock. It'll clock higher than the q6700 aswell.
Aye my friend's really into overclocking so if I were to do that he wouldn't let me start unless I bought a extra cooler hehe!that looks good if you ask me mate, i'd stick with that processor.
if youre looking to overclock that processor tho, get a better cooler with it, stock ones crap and you wont get anywhere![]()
Remember if you're running Vista you'll be needed the 64-bit version to take advantage of the extra RAM. Think I have a copy of the 64-bit disc you can borrow. Anyone know if it'll work with a normal product key?
My current vista is 32 but if I installed 64, would my 32bit product key work with it? Is that what you're saying?if you have a retail key it works with both 32bit and 64bit, and both are on the disc.
