Firstly, welcome to the forums. :)

I can see the idea your going for, just seems a little mis-matched.

I think you'll be much better of going with an A10 5800k. Get sone 1866/2133 RAM too. This improves the graphically performance of the A10. It should play those games quite easily on high settings. Its very capable. This will also save you a bit of money...

Hi guys thank you for your response. Need to buy all the parts and would want to aim for around £500 and would need an OS for it. Would I need any thing to anable 3d? Dont need it just wanted to know

Im wanting to stay with the case I picked also wont I need a graphic card for the build to play the games and blu rays?

The AMD A10 APU will do both fine.

I use a Intel NUC (Celeron versioin) to watch HD movies.

I used the Prodigy as it can take a full height GPU much later if you wanted. It's a funky looking case too and isn't that big really. The AMD A10K has a decent IGP that is capable of covering the uses you have stated.

I would personally consider using the windows 8 enterprise (evaluation) edition for free on a 3 month trial. I could then put some of that cash into getting a decent gaming GPU for the HTPC for more demanding titles. With MS releasing Windows Blue later this year holding off on buying an OS might not be such a bad idea after all ;)

No, that's the joy of the A10 Apu, it has amazing built in graphics that will easily handle blu-rays and the games you play. The reason we've been speccing 2133 RAM too is because that increases the APU's graphical performance..

still think i would like to have a separate gpu and cpu as i always believed that putting less stress on the cpu is always better :) the case i like as it will be a gift for my mate and i know they would rather have that style case to go under his tv. if you can recommend a better gpu thats cool if not ill stick with that one.

thank you again guys for your help it is much appreciated

Dont forget the APU has a separate GPU on the chip which a 7660D.

The guys here are great. I would also go with the APU, a friend built one recently and it was fab till he shorted the entire thing...

i looked at the gigabyte MB but it was out of stock :( this may sound like a noob question but does most HDMI send the sound as well or would i need a sound adapter? also are bluetooth keyboard/ mouse ok for games?? as i always use cabled parts.
