Help with bios settings

Max cpu v core is now saying the same. 1.416

All i changed in the bios was to set the fans to full speed for everything. Cpu fan, cpu optional, case fan all set to full speed

I will try that. The latest f4 bios says it has adjustments to v core voltage adjust. Maybe they released a new bios as this was an issue? I just need to figure out how to upgrade the bios now lol

You don't need to flash the bios, somewhere in the bios settings there will be an opinion to load and save default settings.

Give that a try first, then if no joy, look at flashing the bios.

Well seeing as you're having issues with your setup it's generally a good thing to try. It also said on the website something about voltages in the latest bios so that may fix the issue you are having definately worth a shot. I'm not too familiar with how flashing bios on a gigabyte board goes but most vendors have some online flashing tool built in to the bios?

Seeing as they say there's specifically an issue with voltage adjustments in the previous bios, I'd say you're on to the right thing. However, it's preferable to attempt to identify and confirm the problem before acting, especially before doing something like a bios upgrade.

I would explore your current bios settings first, confirm that you have a problem with adjusting voltages manually, and then choose to upgrade your bios if you have the problem.

I was just about to go into the bios to change the v core and I quickly checked hw monitor and my max cpu v core has gone down to 1.368v and then 5 seconds later its back at 1.416.:confused:

Most likely just a bad reading. But try to manually set it to confirm that before flashing the latest bios and the guy above said. Generally flashing bios is reserved for when all other options have been depleted.

It won't let me change it.. I can't click anything on it I really appreciate you guys helping me like this. I feel like such an idiot..

Well we all have to start somewhere. i'm by no means an expert but I have some experience. At least I like to think so haha. Well guess it might be worth updating the bios then not being able to adjust vcore on an unlocked CPU is not normal and totally defeats the purpose.

It makes me wish I had just bought a pre built computer lol. It took me all day to put it together! My bios has q flash and I have downloaded the file and I am ready to put it on a formatted USB drive. To put it onto the usb drive do I drag the whole compressed file or just the flash.exe file?

I've updated the bios and the max cpu v core is now saying 1.296v. I still can't change anything, it must be a setting I need to change to let me access it. But all seems well so far!

Well if you are not planning to overclock I think you can leave it as is everything looks fairly reasonable compared to before.

I will leave that for another day. I am enjoying playing Bf1 and Gta 5 without any slow downs atm :D. My i7 920 was no slouch at 4 ghz, but this feels far snappier and generally faster at everything. Thanks so much for all your help, I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
