Sold my Sensation from the below link.

The buyer is wanting a refund. I may have not been clear enough that it is a normal Sensation running at XE speed of 1.5ghz. It's the same phone, just the kernel decides what speed to run at. It was flashed and is running at 1.5ghz.

The buyer is saying the phone does not look new, even though it's advertised as used ?? They also want postal costs which came to £6 to send it.

What should I do?

The only thing I think the buyer may have a point with is that I put this in the description.

HTC Sensation at XE 1.5ghz < could you say a bit misleading?

This Sensation has been unlocked to run at the XE's Dual Core 1.5ghz and includes Beats Audio etc.

It was a bit short sighted of me to think all people read.

not happy, because;it is not htc sensation xe,it is not 1,5ghz and it is very dirty looks like 5 years old phone.i want full money return and plus postal costs to send to you back this phone

I thought the phone was in pretty good nick no deep scratches, and it is running at 1.5ghz.

In regards to his complaint, you advertised it as used so I agree that the buyer doesn't have a leg to stand on; however you should probably have defined "great condition"

The pictures do appear to show the handset in good condition but they're not exactly good quality pictures. Take a look at my completed listing and noticed how I called out any damages.

Also, I would strongly advise flashing anything to sell on eBay back to stock firmware because running some unoffical kernel that's free to download and flash isn't exactly a selling point. If anything, it could be counter productive because not all eBay users are XDA type users who know what a kernel is.

as said what is the buyer actually moaning about. you never said it was new!

if its scratched and you didn't mention it i would try send it back. but if its not don't worry about the rom he knew that.

you might just have to take the bad feed back on the chin as i have. search my name

The buyer has no leg to stand on if he expected a new phone, your listing clearly says: "Used: An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended."

I think the buyer is doing a number on you ..... he could be returning it cause he bought a new one for cheap or he's going to swap out an old crappy one of the same make/model.

Your description does not mislead the buyer, your buyer is a numpty as he did not read your description that it is an Sensation unlocked to XE speeds. Even your photos of the box say "HTC Sensation" not "HTC Sensation XE" lol

It is up to you whether to perform the refund or not.

Why on earth are you listing a phone with modified firmware/kernel installed? That's just asking for trouble because:

  1. Despite your listing being truthful, you have to remember that some people do not understand the idea of changing a SoCs CPU table to overclock it
  2. If the phone breaks in a short period of time, they can try it on and suggest it's linked to the phone running outside of its specifications
  3. I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish by mentioning the whole XE thing anyway. Anyone who appreciates it running at XE speeds will probably know how to do that anyway. Remember, 99% of people couldn't tell you what SoC was inside their phone or what speed it's running at

Think I should refuse and let the case be opened?

In theory yes. In reality no, eBay always sides with the buyer.

You are probably best just taking it back and refunding him sorry to say.

I have not 'copped for this' yet but I am sure it's just a matter of time.

I have to admit, I'm nervous about selling mobiles and tablets on eBay. I've just sold my TF201 and I'm dreading hearing back from the buyer although there's nothing wrong with the device at all..

That is one misleading listing title.

Ebay will throw the book at you and deservedly so. If I asked someone to read the title and say what they were buying they would say the XE version.

"This Sensation has been unlocked to run at the XE's Dual Core 1.5ghz and includes Beats Audio etc."

That one line in the listing is not enough. You need to make it clear that this isn't the XE version and is running a custom ROM to overclock the standard Sensation to XE speeds.

I suspect you knew stating XE several times everywhere would attract people looking for the Sensation XE.

Ebay will side with the buyer and they should for these scenarios. The listing should not be mentioning XE at all unless very explicit.

The listing title should have been "HTC Sensation @ 1.5ghz".

I've sold loads of phones and a tablet through eBay and never had a problem, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Best well to sell a Sensation would be to set it's CID to HTC__001 (regardless of what it originally was), run the latest RUU, then set S-ON.
