Help with extension wiring for broadband please

I have not seen it but why can you not pull other cables using the current ones even if it's say only one of them?

A long cable from the master is the best option.

Did you have an Openreach engineer do your BT Infinity install?

The original telephone cables likely go through the wall and under the floor and clipped in place. Plus their likely to be daisy chained so if you use one of the telephone cables to pull another cable through you'll break the link that joins the extensions to the master.

OK If it was myself I would look into pulling all that out then.

Best to put a vdsl filtered faceplace on the master socket. The cable going to the first extension will connect to the bottom removable section of the master socket and then the extensions should work fine if they were working ok for voice before they still would. It would be a lot of trouble to strip out existing telephone cable and unless the OP was fully networking up the home with Ethernet cables going everywhere you'd loose having telephone extensions in the rest of the house. The number of existing telephone extensions is a bit overkill in one sense but I imagine whoever did it wasn't intending for them all to be used, some are probably there to provide alternative options for placement of phones where required throughout the property.
