Can anyone please help!! i hope this is the right place to post!

I have just bought my self the GA-X38-DS4 board and quad Q6600, i have geil ULL 6400 (GX22GB6400UDC) ram and hiper 580W psu.

When i put all together, the board post's fine and starts to load windows files on as an install should. But then when it comes to the rebooting part of the windows install it reboots post's fine but then imeadiatly after the dmi is verified it crashes and constantly reboots looping. never gets any further!!!

I have updated bios to F2, and tried 3 different O/s installs. Everything ends up in an looping reboot situation!

Can anyone suggest/hellp me figure out what is wrong or do people think i have a faulty board! Please help me before i go insane!!!

I have the 24 pin connector in, and removed the cover and connected an 8 pin connector to the motherboard ( would that make a difference)! The memory is not new i had it on my old system ( GA-965p-ds3p board). will check with memtest though thnx!

i did notice the ram timings were not right for the board in the bios, so i did change them manually! cant remeber whether i did that from a fresh install though, will try that, thnx. will let you know how it goes!

Hi there, i am only using 2 sticks of ram, 2gb sry should have made that clear before. i am trying to install xp pro. and i have a x1950xt his gfx card? . i will try what the other guys said and let you know, thnx.

Oh dear, watch out for a small mushroom shaped cloud around madmanrizzle's place of residence in the near future!

Haha ive just read the thread about the PSU which isn't encouraging!!! LOL i bought mine in april last year, and has been ok, just wondering if that might be the prob now!!

I have tried clearing the cmos and restarting, and smae happened!! i am at a loss really now, i have tried two diff sets of ram, two diff gfx cards, three diff hard drives, my psu works perfect in my other rig, i have tried three diff vers of xp and tried all of the above suggestions and every time the same thing happens. Think its time to RMA it before it gets flung out the window!! thnx for your help guys though much appreciated!

yeah i thought i might try that while waiting for the rma number to come through! im gradually whittling the prob down, only thing else to try other than the psu and motherboard is the cpu???? that is a brand new Q6600 so i'd hope it be ok? Thnx for the help much appreciated.

Ok update, I RMA'd the board and took it back to the shop and they gave me a new one!! Problem solved i thought however when i got home and hooked it all up i had exactly the same! Need dome serious help or Valium, The only thing i have not tested is the CPU but it is recognized fine in the post and runs at the right temp!! so i really dont think it is that?? Anyone out there have similar probs with this board?

Sry should have said that i have allready tried another PSU after you suggested it, i stripped the 500w xilence out of my other rig and tried that! still the same, I contacted gigabyte and they have told me to take it out of the chassis and try bare minimum bits on it = still the same. so they told me to RMA it , LOL i told them i allready have and am awaiting the reply!!

Does anyone think i may need a more meatier PSU?

, The only thing i havn't tested is the CPU, so tonite i am stripping my second rig and trying the new board with my old CPU.

Thanks again

haha well im gonna try swapping the two rigs cpu's round tonite, to see if my old cpu works in my new mobo and my new cpu works in my old mobo!! if you follow!!

Failing that i am gonna buy a new PSU and see?

Failing that i am gonna take it too the place where i got the bits from and throw it back!!! hahaa

Thanks for the help guys!

Ok so another update!! So i stripped both rigs and my old E6300 works perfect in my ds4? i am going to try my quad q6600 tonite in my ds3p to see if that works?

So i have now come to the conclusion that i either have a dodgy CPU, or my motherboard is still a bit faulty with the q6600 or my PSU isnt good enough for the Q6600?

Does everyone else think the same?
