Can anyone please help!! i hope this is the right place to post!

I have just bought my self the GA-X38-DS4 board and quad Q6600, i have geil ULL 6400 (GX22GB6400UDC) ram and hiper 580W psu.

When i put all together, the board post's fine and starts to load windows files on as an install should. But then when it comes to the rebooting part of the windows install it reboots post's fine but then imeadiatly after the dmi is verified it crashes and constantly reboots looping. never gets any further!!!

I have updated bios to F2, and tried 3 different O/s installs. Everything ends up in an looping reboot situation!

Can anyone suggest/hellp me figure out what is wrong or do people think i have a faulty board! Please help me before i go insane!!!

I have the 24 pin connector in, and removed the cover and connected an 8 pin connector to the motherboard ( would that make a difference)! The memory is not new i had it on my old system ( GA-965p-ds3p board). will check with memtest though thnx!

Go into the BIOS->MB Intelligent Tweaker, and set the ram voltage to +0.15v (2.1v) and set your timings manually to 4-4-4-12 (assuming you are not in a continual reboot cycle). :)

i did notice the ram timings were not right for the board in the bios, so i did change them manually! cant remeber whether i did that from a fresh install though, will try that, thnx. will let you know how it goes!

A quad and 4 memory sticks will need tweaking normally in the bios on a motherboard. Normally this means increasing voltages (very slightly), as the extra cores and 2 extra memory sticks draw more power so it's harder to make them all work (simplistic way of putting it i know).

If you follow what the guys are saying above you'll be fine :)

Otherwise> What version of windows ? xp home/pro 32bit/64bit or perhaps vista home/premium/ultimate 32/64 bit ?
What graphics card do you have?

It may be an issue with compatibility and drivers. We need to know more if what's being suggested by the other guys doesn't work.

Hi there, i am only using 2 sticks of ram, 2gb sry should have made that clear before. i am trying to install xp pro. and i have a x1950xt his gfx card? . i will try what the other guys said and let you know, thnx.

set the ram voltage to +0.15v (2.1v) and set your timings manually to 4-4-4-12

+0.15V will only give 1.95V?
On my DS4 ive set the ram to 0.2V and it still only shows 2.05V in windows but my old geil needed 0.3V to run at full speed with 4-4-4-12 timings or i got similar problems.

If it was me idd put the ram settings to auto and bump the V to 0.2V or 0.3V :)

Yes put timings on auto for now as it will slacken them and as they're rated 1.9V-2.3V you will be safe using 2V (also make sure there running on a 1:1 divider)

Failing that try 1 stick at a time to erase them from the equation.
Also, what psu are you using?

Oh dear, watch out for a small mushroom shaped cloud around madmanrizzle's place of residence in the near future!

Haha ive just read the thread about the PSU which isn't encouraging!!! LOL i bought mine in april last year, and has been ok, just wondering if that might be the prob now!!

I take it you did my suggestions with no luck?

Have you powered it off for a few minutes then tried again without re-installin? i had problems with a hiper psu were it would get stuck in a rebooting loop which i thought was just a cold boot at first but not long later it started cutting out in windows
