Help with minimum spec PC

Gaming, like the budget, would be very minimal. I'd say something capable of running a few low spec games. He's 8, so he ain't gonna be play Crysis any time soon!

Power supply is important - I see there is some debate! Frying my ex isn't such a bad idea, but I'd like to keep my son safe from dodgy power supplies!

The fact that I'm seeing prices around £250 - £300 is great. I figure thats all she'd have to spend.

Well if his son wants to game on it, that'll be the best bang for his buck I would say.

Nice spec right there! Might want to get Antecs 400W PSU just for assurance, only like £5 extra?

This. nice budget gaming system - as well as being good for the usual net browsing/documents - you'd be surprised what it can handle. my mates rig isnt much better than this and can run most games on high 1080p. so this should handle most on medium at least
