My 2005 build died today, so I'm in need of suggestions for a new build.

be used mostly for gaming bf3, skyrim, rage and so on..

wanting bf3 to run at ultra settings if possible, 1920 x 1080

budget is around £500 - £550 for a mobo, ram, cpu, grahpics card and maybe a solid state drive.

Help will be greatly appreciated.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think BD will stomp all over i5 2500K or 2600K, it will be interesting to see if they will be released in quantities enough for mass market or not.
But one thing I am counting on is to have an impact on the pricing!

If they don't compete then the prices of Sandy Bridge CPU's might go up

Is that the impact you're hoping for?

Realistically you are not going to get a SSD as well for that budget.

Assuming you get a £200 ish graphic card, you will have only £300-£350 left, which is just enough to get you the i5 2500K (£160~£170)+motherboard that does SLI/Crossfire (£110~£130), 4GB ram (£25) or 8GB ram (£50) and a decent CPU cooler (£25-£35).
