Hi Guys,

I have just flashed to 0612 from 0404 and i'm experiencing instability when i try and change my ram timings from 5,5,5,12 -> 4,4,4,12. Note: I've managed to restore all other settings, although i've left the DRAM CMD rate to auto.

Before i upgraded i literally wrote down all my settings but i've noticed that there are ALLOT more options within this new bios. Hopefully this is where you guys come in! Can anyone spot a setting/settings that might be A) causing instability or B) directly contributing towards the above problem.

Note, i have been running at 3.5 (440*8) using 1.4875 (CPU volts) for a few months @ 1 hour prime stable.

In order to make easier for you guys, I've taken some pics of my bios.

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, just had a full system freeze with nothing but itunes and firefox going. Something is definitely not right here.

Ok Just noticed this:

DRAM Frequency appears to be sky high. Although i didn't see and option for 1:1

Heres mine for 3.6gig

Ok, from your settings i can see that you have disabled all of the cpu settings except for execute disable bit. Your also running at higher DRAM, Northbridge and Southbridge voltages.

Perhaps my ram needs more juice? I can also see that you have locked your DRAM Freq at 800. Not sure about the DRAM volts though as im not sure if my Geil ram is rated that high ?

Yea my higher voltages are due to running 4X sticks of ram, Check what your ram can do - it will be on the sticker on the side. i run my ram at 800 as thats 1:1 and theres not much difference in it. What is your ram 800 or 1066 as its running at 1000 at the moment.

Ok, i matched you CPU settings and voltages and it's running fine now. When i originally benched the machine i had temps in the 60's @ 3.5 but now they are in the 70's :( Anyways, 10mins of prime and it appears table @ 3.5 as before. Loads temps of around 73.

The weird thing is that it's now 'stable' at 3.6, Before prime would kick out straight away.

In any case, my temps are a tad high so perhaps i should think about a re-set of the CPU / better cooling?

Those temps are nothing to worry about - what case and case cooling do you have? As You might need to try and improve the airflow inside the case

Case = Antec 900 and all cables etc have been managed with cable ties. The VID on the chip is 1.3 though

Pretty sure mine is a 1.325vid but its in a lian-li v1000 so not that much difference.

So its either something to do with my thermalright ultra 120 extreme or your heatsink needs re-seating

I assume that the transaction booster is the same thing as what is referred to as the AI Transaction Booster is Pneumonic P5K thread? If so, should i bumb it up a little? What would be a sensible setting?
