Hi everybody!

I recently went away for a day or so, and upon coming back home and turning on my PC and loading up steam / origin to check the new deals and play some games I noticed that they were both crashing quite a lot but every other program on my computer ran fine, these two programs are installed on a separate hard drive on my computer, and I am no stranger to hard drives breaking on me (I've been through many refurbished SSDs from OCZ and have sworn off them now because of this) so I was wondering if you guys could help me with a solution?

My C: Drive is working perfectly fine and is running my operating system and some less demanding programs like Office, Chrome and so on but is a 500GB WD Green and all programs installed on here run fine with no problems

My D: Drive seems to run fine, as I can access all of the files and see them, although they do take a while to load up which is pretty odd, but it's when I run Steam or Origin that is strange because it initially loads up just fine and then after a few minutes or if you try to do something it will just stop responding and crash and then you will not be able to open it or any other program from the D: Drive. This drive is a 3TB WD Green

So is my hard drive going to have to be replaced or is there some small stupid thing that I'm missing here?

Thanks for any help!

Defragging a potentially failing drive is asking for trouble.

Download WDC's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and test the drive.

If you have a spare SATA cable try swapping it.
