i've changed my motherboard from a gigabyte x58 usb3 to a ud5 for the sata 3 using 2 w/d 640 6 g/s hard drives...the problem i'm having is in the manual it says enter the bios and set the ich sata control mode to raid(xhd) then save and reboot then after the post memory test begins look for a message which says "press <ctrl-l> to enter configuration utility"....i dont get this option, theres no message like this.. what i'm doing wrong...my set up is m/b x58a-ud5, i7 950 chip, gtx 570, ddr3 1600,h/drives 1.5 tb seagate. x2 640 w/d, titan fr cooler....thanks

1) Are you sure that the correct option was changed in the BIOS and the changes saved correctly?

2) Are the drives connected to the Intel ports rather than the Gigabyte/JMicron ones?

Does the Intel BIOS show at all? It should list the drives attached during POST regardless of the controller mode.

i highly reccomend registering on the gigabyte forum.
they have helped me no end with questions ive had.
darkmantis is very very helpful and has always replied to me within mins of posting
look here

directly above the "ICH SATA control mode" there is another option to enable XHD have you made sure it's enabled as it's set to disabled by default

so set XHD to enabled & set ICH SATA control mode to RAID(XHD)

The white SATA ports are Gigabyte.

You need to plug your drives into the blue slots which are Intel.

Set "ICH SATA Control Mode" to RAID in the BIOS.

Now when you boot you should see the Intel RAID BIOS where you press ctrl-I to set up your RAID.
