Would like some advice on a problem that is brewing between us and one of the flats below us. Basically our top floor flat straddles two others - one of the neighbours doesn't complain and the other one does.
Our flat has a roof terrace which is on top of the bedroom of the woman downstairs. She made complaints to us about walking too loudly on it and chairs scraping etc etc which we apologised for.
Then we came back one day and saw that some white tags had appeared lashing our bamboo screen to the railings which must have been flapping and making a noise in the wind. It seemed very clear that she'd gone onto our terrace via the stairwell that runs from outside her flat to ours, though we had no proof it was her and did nothing about it.
We received a couple more complaints from her over the last week or so asking us not to put bread out for the birds since the birds made a noise on the terrace and woke her up on the morning, which we agreed no longer to do. Now, today, I went onto the terrace and noticed that some 'coasters' had been Sellotaped to the bottom of our plastic furniture. Needless to say this got my goat and I banged on her door but she didn't answer. I therefore wrote her a letter saying that if I strongly suspected it was her and if I ever caught her on our terrace I'd report her to the council for trespassing.
The thing is, it could be no-one else but her who does this. She's complained quite a few times - no one else would have cause to sneak onto the terrace and do this. She's a 30/40-something single woman who seems to do nothing with her time except go to work and come home. She is the only person who has bought a flat in the block and treats the whole block as her own - keeping her gardening stuff by the front door, annoying other people and posting complaint notes on the communal front door when people forget to double lock it.
My questions is - is there anything else I can do about this? I'll see how she responds to the note but since we comply with everything, is there any other way to shut her up?
