Help with watercooling setup!

i have since read the feser article and am alittle horrified to say the least.....i will be

draining my feser one out asap and will be replacing it with fluid xp i think.....i think i

prefer this over distilled water and silver kill.... apologies to freddie for putting fesser

forward as a good fluid.....i had no idea it may do that till i read the article.....but to be

fair its been fine in my system for 6 months....but im not willing to take any chances

Hi Freddie

I've got the D5 bay reservoir and I've been using it for a few days. It's very nice looking in my opinion. But there are a few problems, I'll tell you them and you can decide if they're worth you getting it:

1. It can be a pain to fit the reservior in the case. I think that getting the reservoir into the case and getting it out again was an awful experience. On the plus side, the pump is easy to install into the res.

2. It it difficult to change the speed of the pump once the res is installed. It could be done with some careful skill and an angled screwdriver.

3. Uses 2 drive bays. Not really a negative, but you can't have it in the top drive bay as you'd lose access to the fillport.

Other than that, it looks pretty cool imo and saves space elsewhere in the case, if you happen to have some drivebays free.

Distilled + kill coil is better than Fluid XP according to this test.

I'm using distilled and silver coil. It's working really well for me :)

thanks for all your help!, im just reading through your build its amazing! i see you had a few problems with the GPU and air bubbles though :(, i can only wish that i don't get angry when i do my W/C build, im sure i will refer back to this thread when i get to the building stage! anyway time to get back to my geography homework :(

thanks again for all your help and every one else who posted :)

Deos anyone mount there water cooling on the outside of the case anymore? I have a case with holes in the back specifically for water cooling (3Daurora) but don't know how to mont all the water cooling components, I am assuming that they would be better out of the case??

not sure, i think a few people still mount their rad's outside the case just because of the shier size of them!

I think that people like all their stuff to be in one place so it goes inside the case. But as said above, it's mainly rads that people might want to mount outside the case. There's no real benefit to having the stuff outside the case to be honest. Other than the radiator which, depending on airflow, could be a couple of degrees cooler outside the case.
