my temps are ok , it's just when i game it crashes and i can't ctrl + alt + del .. i have to power off :(
Hmm so even a reformat isn't getting rid of something? Do you do a quick or full reformat? I can't think of how a full reformat and a new install of XP can't stop his from happening?

Are all the games DirectX games? Most nowadays are I think. It is just games or times when the processor is very busy?

No problems other than ingame, tried Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft myself.

Strange though, isn't it? No problems before MCE, but even with a full format which should remove all traces of MCE the MCE introduced problem still remains!

I can (and will in a moment) try another game, WoW is the main game I play.
OK, be quick. I'm off in a min. Don't mean to sound horrid or anything, reply back here with news of other games and I'll be back later on this morning to see if I can help, if anyone else hasn't already helped you.

I have to stay I'm stumped until we get more info. This sounds like a Windows problem but with formatting not getting rid of it perhaps it is hardware based somehow. Perhaps MCE alters IRQs for hardware in some way? But then I think XP sets IRQs for devices it can detect when installing so that can't be it.

Perhaps it is too late for me brain. When I come back partly refreshed I might have more ideas. I'll be more willing to Google and search MS and Warcraft sites for this in the morning than I am know; being very tired.

i mostly play Pro evo 5 and CSS! and now its really doing my head in :(
Hmm so Pro Evo, CSS, Warcraft 3 and WOW. The obvious thing that all these games have in common is they have none, at least none I can think of. It can't be Windows based because you have both tried XP Pro.

As I said in my previous post, I will be better suited to searching the net for info and help later on when I've had some sleep.

When my game crashes the screen frezes and I get a sound loop for 10-20 seconds then the sound goes away and I have to power off.

I am running ...

Packardbell imedia 1615

Windows Xp Pro SP2 / MCE - does the same
P4 2.93 GHz
1 GB RAM
315W PSU
Radeon x550, I think the problem is the video card, I've not had a problem with my STOCK X300 I am using the latest drivers from ATi's site.

So you've changed your graphics card?

But more worrying is the PSU. 315W?! That is surely not enough for your PC. You'd need 450W minimum a friend of mine thinks and I agree. That could be the problem. The PC hangs when you are running games which will increase the graphics card power demands which probably overloads the PSU and there you go.

MSI K8N, AMD 3000+ 64bit, 512MB x2 Corsair VS, Asus 6600GT, 80GB, 320GB runs nicer than it used to with my Arctic Cooling T1 (ugh) but if that 370W runs with mine well, what's to say it wont work with David334's, eh?

Opps another point I should I made before. Check your current PSU is ATX and is not oddly shaped overwise this may pose problems installing your newer one. My old Emachines PSU was smaller and placed differently, I fixed this with a new case though. Just thought I'd mention it.
