After 5 months of buying parts I finally have my PC!! Put it all together but when I turn it on it switches on for a split second and turns off!!!

Specs are:

i7 3370k
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
Cooler Master Silent Pro 600 Gold
Crucial Ballistix sport 16gb 1600Mhz
WD green 1TB 64Mb cache *single platter*
Crucial RealSSD M4 128gb
Pioneer 24x DVR-S19LBK
Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler
Noctua NF-R8
Truequiet 120mm Fan
Wireless network card
Asus Xonar DG 5.1

Not sure what I've done wrong, I took my time but it's probably my fault!

Any suggestions?

1. Go over each wire and make sure it's securely attached.
2. Have you plugged in the 8-pin CPU power connector and 24-pin motherboard power?
3. Try removing things you don't need, so sound card, network card, DVD-RW, mechanical drive, just use the bare minimum.
4. Use a single stick of RAM, install in the memory slot furthest away from the CPU and try booting. If no luck move it to a different slot and retry. Try different memory sticks too.
5. Have you installed the motherboard brass stand-offs?
6. Does the CPU fan spin up (if connected)? Presumably you used thermal paste when applying the cooler?
7. Double check front panel connectors? These can sometimes be a bit tricky and easy to get wrong. Try shorting the two power pins on the motherboard using a screwdriver to make sure it's not a front panel power on switch fault.
8. Any LED's on the motherboard or error bleeps?

1. done.
2.I don't think their is an 8-pin on the board. Their is one 4 pin that I have connected up and it now runs for 10 seconds! It restarts itself every 10 seconds and makes 2 bleeps.
3.tried this.
4.I'll give this a go.
5.I have. Are they important?
6.All fans spin and yes I did use thermal paste.
7.I will do this. I did have a bit of trouble with this. the colours don't match. I've put the coloured wire in the + part and the white (pressuming it's the ground) in the other.
8.Can't see any LED's and their are 2 bleeps every time it starts.

But how are you suppose to do a bios update when it doesn't even turn on!! If this is the issue then it makes no sense! I think it's something else....or at least I hope so!!! Anyone with any other ideas? It makes 2 bleeps when it starts and their is no image on the monitor.

But the mobo is compatible with IB!!! They can't advertise a product saying it works with IB if you have to buy a SB CPU first before you can use your IB!

it says in the list that the G440 needs bios F6, does this mean it needs to be updated to F6 or will it work straight out the box? I don't want to spend £30 on something I don't want only to have the same problem with that! I might try my local shop.

Nothing to do with cpu.
2 bleeps is memory problem. Most boards don't like Crucial Ballistix.Try different ram or 1 stick at a time.
Check cpu cooler and thermal paste on the cpu.(good contact)
Clear cmos(take battery out from board leave out for 1 hour)
Also can be psu problem

Really? I've tried every stick seperatly but it still didn't work. I've tested my PSU and that's fine. I'll try the cmos, does it have to be an hour?

taken from gigabyte forum with some1 same problem as you

I had exactly same issue with my GA-Z68XP-UD3 and i5-3570K. The problem was the old BIOS version, which didn't fully support IB CPUs, so I had to flash a new one. You can't do this with your CPU, because it keeps rebooting and you are not able to start the Q-Flash. You need to get a SB CPU and then flash a new BIOS. The BIOS version you need for your new CPU is at least "FC" in your case, so check the version you have. Be sure to reset your BIOS after the flashing and then load optimized values. It should be able to boot up with your new CPU properly then

that was some1 telling him what 2 do

That's a bummer and I think it should be made much clearer on their site that you need an older CPU before you can run a new one....which makes no sense!!!

found another for you

the problem could be as you suggested in your 1st post and the BIOS doesn't support the CPU. Sadly the only way to flash the BIOS is to have a supported CPU. If you don't have access to one do you have a local PC store that would be able to update the BIOS for you? This is often the quickest and easiest method but there will probably be a charge for them doing so.

For supported CPU's check here: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3973 you will need a CPU that will run with the F4 BIOS which is probably the version the board shipped with.

If you do not have access to a supported CPU or a shop that can update the BIOS for you, then contact Gigabyte Tech Support click here: http://ggts.gigabyte.com/tech.asp?ClassID=2&Country=France&SourceWeb=B2C to arrange an RMA so they can flash the BIOS for you.

Thanks for the info, you've got the wrong mobo in the link though.
