Here's a great in depth look at Android 5.0, nothing is left out.

Which should also be released officially next week: https://twitter.com/moversi/status/533145251234738176

GPe updates usually comes out about a week after Nexus devices, so sounds about right.

I'm curious to see what HTC does with Sense, when I first saw Material it made me think of Sense 6.0 for some reason. There was leaked Sense 7 screenshots but LlabTooFeR says they were fake.

TouchWiz on the other hand actually looks good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QETNpd57kk

It's about time they changed the old GB style. Still looks pretty bloated though :p...

Today Calendar = Unofficially the new Google Calendar for all intents and purposes :)

On the new calendar app?

Yeah....at least I think I'm using the default calender, I haven't installed another afaik?!.

It seems to work O.K.

That's not really a usable "!month" view though compared to how it should be :p

Is there an easy way I can install a different ROM to the phone and, if you like, convert it to a GPE permanently?

Different custom ROM - yes, you just need to unlock the bootloader. This will however factory reset your phone as part of the process.

Converting to GPe? A tad harder, it also requires S-OFF and a few other steps to make it fully GPe that can receive OTAs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708589

Thanks for the information and links. Think I'd ideally like to make OTA updates possible but with me never rooting an android before that link looks a bit too technical.

If I were to install a ROM would performance suffer?

If you stick with a Sense based or GPe based ROM, performance should be the same or even better. An AOSP based ROM on the other may have less performance instead as it's built from the ground up.

You can unlock the bootloader here: http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader

But this toolkit might be better to use, as it will guide you on the steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699065

The toolkit will prepare your PC to unlock the bootloader and also comes with the custom recovery which is required to flash custom ROMs.

Just remember unlocking the bootloader will factory reset your phone.

Really appreciate your help mate. I'll take a look into it all.

Cheers!
