Not a fan of Lollipop completely tbh. I find it way too white, not iOS7 white but still too bright and colourful. Also prefer to have widgets on the lockscreen KitKat style, rather than notifications.
I used the factory image to update my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0, knowing that it would wipe my phone and to have a fresh start. I backed up my apps via Helium, but wanted to see how Android's backup manager would do before using Helium to restore.
I have mixed feelings about Lollipop, but it's early days yet. Here's my observations so far, would be good to understand if people have experienced similar?
On first run of the set up wizard, WPS wasn't available when it came to connecting to a WiFi network?
Android backup manager actually restored my data for majority of apps, Plants vs Zombies 2 had me down as completing all levels. Previously, it only downloaded your apps from the Play Store but didn't restore the data
WPS button has been moved from the main WiFi screen and into an overflow menu - I think this is a step backwards as WPS is supposed to be a quick way to connect and now it's buried in a sub menu
Running WPS and selecting cancel once the process has started makes the phone hang for a moment - anyone else have this issue?
Google Now voice activation now works from any screen and when screen is off (when charging) when using English(UK), before this worked only with English(US)
You can train Google Now to recognise your voice only, by training it three times within settings. However, other male voices seem to still set my phone off? Has anyone else found this?
Battery life is significantly worse for me
Opening apps from their lock screen notifications isn't a fluid experience. There's a delay once the phone has unlocked until the app is loaded and the keyboard also takes a while to appear once a field is clicked into
I love smartlock - In good available light, my phone unlocks most of the time via face unlock and trusted devices is great for car Bluetooth
I'm glad they kept the old layout notification toggles page, it looks more cleaner and even compared to the stock layout. Still not sure on the recent apps list though, I prefer Sense 5/6's way as I can see all my running apps more clearly.
It will probably change though as there's still plenty of time before their 90 day garantee, at the moment it just looks like stock Material Android with bits of Sense elements, the final product will probably have more of a Sense feel and look.
