Here's to another one being released without charge, hopefully...

@Britboy from page 1. Yes I could hack him to pieces, but why doesn't the child have the curtsey to use my front door? Just because I can, doesn't mean I should. There has to be an element of common sense included in the law. Guy hoping over your fence with a knife is a different matter. Common sense and balance seem to be lacking in modern life, and most arguments on GD for that matter.

I can't believe someone drew a comparison between interupting 2 guys uninvited inside your house a child roaming into a back garden....... on second thought I am in GD :S

I wouldn't be too happy if I was the family who was burgled to have flowers an tributes to the burglar put outside my house.

I'm surprised the Police are allowing it frankly. I have no sympathy for the deceased, he wouldn't be dead if he wasn't robbing the place, live by the sword, die by the sword.

Agreed. If I was the home owner I'd be telling the police to shift it or I'd be doing it myself.
Agreed.

Imagine waking up to some random scum **** walking around your house? I'd be shouting take what you want but if you come near me/children you're dead to me.

Then I'd jump on their heads until they didn't move as they were in my home.

I think you should have the right to defend your home and family.

If some scroat decides to break in and gets hurt or killed because of it then more fool him.

And the other guy that took off in the van best count himself lucky. He took part in a criminal act that resulted in death, if he were in the US he would be charged with felony murder.

Considering that the normal knee-jerk reaction is that any claim of defence is true, any degree of force is reasonable and that it's shocking that anyone is arrested after saying they killed in defence, extreme comparisons are appropriate.

As for choosing "here's to another one being released without charge, hopefully" as the thread title and stating "good riddance" as a response to someone being stabbed to death, then claiming that the intended meaning was expressing hope that the killing was an unintended consequence of necessary force in defence...well, that's sillier than some of the insults in this thread. It's a totally poopy-head argument.

Cue the people saying that because I don't think everyone should have carte blanche to kill anyone in whatever way they feel like, call it defence and not even be arrested for it, I must think that everyone should have carte blanche to do anything they want and nobody is allowed to try to stop them. It doesn't make any sense, obviously, but it is the usual response.

Hopefully those floral tributes are disposed of quickly, absolute disgrace to allow scum to leave a tribute to a criminal outside the victims house.
I cant imagine my reaction if an intruder came into my house, I'd assume brown trousers... If I was near the kitchen knives I dare say one would be grabbed and waved frantically.. Dont know what happened in this situation, but I'd hope the homeowner was given the benefit of the doubt in this situation. If it wasnt for those guys burgling someones house, theyd both be alive.

As for Britboys typical postings... LOL.
Need his avatar changed to trollface.

Who cares whether there was an excess of force or not, let the guy go.
/troll

It's not trolling. Anyone breaking into your property is fair game if you are trying to defend your family and property. Serves the burglar right.

thing is, you never know how normal people (the victim) will react when put into this, a highly stressful, situation once the adrenaline kicks in.

it’s also not like in the movies and on tv which can make fights and fighting, look easy, quite clean / choreographed, *** for tat and well balanced. you certainly don’t know what your assailant is capable of or what weapons they may be carrying

unless you have had some substantial experience though real fighting (not just a controlled martial art in a gym) and weapon training would you actually know what to do with a knife?

worse thing you could do is lightly injure or poke the intruder with a quick jab which only enrages them (a potentially dangerous criminal and you don't know just how dangerous) so they then turn on you. there were also two of them so going anything short of mental at both would be a huge risk as one could easily over power you, whilst you are attacking the other. again its not like the movies, people don’t just line up and go in one at a time

if someone broke into my house I have no idea how I would react but if I were to attack the intruder, I would not want to give them any opportunity to remain standing, otherwise I would just let them get on with it.

If someone ever broke into my gaff, I would knock seven shades of **** out of the tea leaf, and then kick him down the stairs. Phone police, say I startled him and he tripped...profit :P.

Clearly you've not watched enough Reality crime TV or CSI/Dexter/Breaking Bad :p

Knock him out, dump him in the sulphuric acid barrel in the basement!

"Oh, look honey, there's a local man in the paper reported missing!"

or

"Oh, look honey, we should have bought the house with the basement". :p

Man breaks into house and says 'give me your £20 DVD player or I'll lump you mate'

Home owner grabs a steak knife, goes mentally psychotic, and stabs it it 6 times into the side of the burgler's head and his face, and 14 times into the unarmed burgler's gut as the guy madly tries to leg it.

OCUK GD commends owner and suggests he gets a big medal. Hopes burglers soul rots in hell. Secretly hopes media report burglar as non-white immigrant or gypsy in near future. Subscribes to Daily Mail for life. Wonders if immigrants cause cancer.

Welcome to the opinion of the masses. Joe Public & GD, .. I love 'ya!! The daily mail is going to have a field day on this one ..

my opinion -- reasonable force should be allowed, unreasonable force should not.

So if I can round to your house with a knife, broke in and demanded that you and over your valuables you'd be happy enough to let me get on with it?

In which case put the kettle on and send me your address in trust :)

I don't know my own intelligence. I've got a computer science degree and held down a 6-figure job for >15 years but I reckon any muppet can get one and do that as long as they can do a proper day's work, and that's the truth.

Does he realise your not meant to count the decimal point?

Cashier number 2 please!!!
