Heroes of the Storm

Kerrigan took quite a nerf in the recent patch, Diablo is marmite as some love him and some hate him.

Not tried Tyrael but knowing you Stu you will be looking for Starcraft heroes. In fact those 3 may well be on the new rotation on Tuesday as i don't think they have been on the last 2 rotations.

Yeah im only interested in Starcraft or Diablo characters

Hit level 30 last night, so thought I would give Ranked a try...

I quickly realised I need to get more of the Heroes I have to the level where they have all talents unlocked as I had to choose ones I don't play often.

1 loss, 1 win. Not a bad start I guess :)

I know I'm no expert but this game is like World of tanks all over again. No matter how well you do the matchmaking does it's best to @&$# you over!!!

Every game is the same, the enemy team roll as a unit completing objectives and I get lumbered with four who just want to explore the map!!

Worse thing is I really enjoy the game but it's getting tedious losing 80% of games.

I think it does get better. One thing to note if you're not aware, if you party with say 2 of your noob friends, the system will match you with another party of 3 and 2 random's so you should potentially expect to lose if your friends are no good and the other party of 3 are experienced.

What heroes do you usually play? What level are you?

I'm sorry to say but I've found out that people who such low winrate usually just have no clue whatsoever (ranked 40-50 after 100+ games where you get 200pts for win and lose only 40-50 but they still can't rank up).

Could also be that you're trying to help your bad team mates too much and therefore start doing mistakes and silly plays by yourself. This is a very common mistake for new MOBA players and sometimes it's better to try and win the game by yourself and forget that you even have a team if the team is very bad, which can mostly be seen within the first 3-5minutes of the game.

The only thing I suggest is learn how to play very well 2-3 very strong heroes that can make a massive difference and can win the games alone.

Heavy pushing heroes are especially effective at low ranks (or unranked) as most players don't pay attention to the map and can't split properly.
For example, a good zaggara or azmodan, can force the enemy team to send at least 2ppl to run through entire map and defend if you push very hard.

Even if you die, by the time they will get to you, you'd have destroyed at least turrets or even fort and forcing enemy team to waste 1 minute on you is success in it's own and prevents enemy from just steamrolling your team as 5 or prevents them from doing other objectives.

And if they decide to ignore you, which did happen to me many times, they might get surprised that the game suddenly ended as you destroy their base while they tunnel vision the objectives so much that they didn't notice that they've got 0 base left.

Obviously, most of the time you'll have to ignore your team completely and you'll receive a lot of hate on chat for that but if that's what you need to win then I don't see any problem with it myself.

Once you get under rank 30 (¬100 games on at least 50% winrate required) you'll be more often matched with people who actually have a clue of how to play the game and then you can start trying to play with the team more often.

I mainly just play Nova and Abathur (if Nova taken or if I have to counter heavy pusher on enemy team) and my winrate hangs around 60-70% in solo ranked.

Feel free to add me @ PhoenixUK#2160 for any tips or maybe I can have a look at one or two of your replay games and give you some advice :-).

Last 20 games for me have been 14 wins and 6 losses.

Before that i was losing more than winning.

You should start playing ranked already!
Could do with a good stitches in the team :-).
I think it's the only hero I absolutely hate to be playing against as Nova!

The control this hero has in a teamfight is just ridiculous. Big block of meat blocking your skillshots, standing in the way, hooking, swallowing players, half screen aoe stun/dot which prevents stealth!

I have everyone in this thread on my battlenet, Will happily be playing and people log on and dont bother to message to ask if they want to join a group bar 1 or 2.

I agree with what Phoenix has said, Several times myself and one other have won the game as the other team were being forced to split between the 2 of us pushing hard while the other 3 who didnt really have a clue ran around like a headless chicken. Admittedly this does not work too great late game due to the increased spawn timer so a quick gank on the 2 doing the work can set your team back quite badly. Azmodan and Abathur are just the kings of lane domination, with imo Azmodan taking the lead for his hero killing ability as well, Zagarra coming very close behind them.

Managed to have a few decent games tonight although I spent most of my time laughing at the pure abuse and hatred players throw at each other during a match, it's a very serious game :p

At the moment I find it very enjoyable parking my tanks fat ass just outside the reach of the towers and keeps, firing away minding my own business.

The amount of games lately where I've been left to get on with it is ridiculous.

Team I was in earlier today played it clever, the opposition were insisting in having a hero brawl. So I stayed bottom and they all made sure they stayed top dragging all their heroes there.

As above I parked the tank and spent 10 mins shooting at stuff. Every now and again a couple would wipe me out but off I went when spawned back in and parked up.

Easy win and well played my team for seeing the weaknesses in the opposition.

Then on the flip side another game earlier, we started super strong with a couple of level advantage and got the 3 tributes twice in a row. It was looking a super quick game with the opposition being dominated.

All of a sudden though the whole team just fell apart being overly cocky. All they did was chase down heroes, ignored every cry to capture camps and made no effort to attack their base. Ultimately the opposition realised I was trying to solo so made sure I was dead within a short time of spawning and then proceeded to capture most the camps before pushing and winning.

How we lost goes to show you have to play properly until the end.

That said I'm far from a top player and still make mistakes that I slap myself for as soon as I do them. I can be rash in my approach, instead of stepping back and regaining control, this leads to sometimes silly deaths.

I do though try and play the objective every map and if you have another player or two doing the same you will win more often than not.

I don't mind losing when the team tries, I hate losing when your team decides it wants to do what it wants.

Oh and seemingly having more and more bots in game lately which is a pain.

Last five games, won 3 lost 2 .. had some pretty fun games. I'm just rotating heroes in my collection at the moment which makes it tougher if they are unplayed.

Had one match were some player was stuck in caps lock abusing everyone but to be fair he was trying to lead and once everyone tried what he said we pulled out a win, quite satisfying !

Is E.T.C worth grabbing ? I've not been in a match with anyone playing him which usually is an indication of one's worth, just I like the idea of chugging riffage about :p

ETC is VERY VERY tanky. Barely any damage at all but can solo other bruisers easily. More of a control hero, a stun and a small knock/interrupt on relatively short cd.

Does well with a team of melee auto attackers as his passive increases attack speed to nearby units.

Basically IN YOUR FACE type of hero that's more annoying than really doing anything :).

I've been playing co-op to level up the free characters in a bit of a no stress environment, and I'm amazed that people still get in a strop about things if you dare do something they don't want you to do. There have been a couple of extremely close calls in these games with people just not paying attention, the doubloon map seems to be especially prone to bringing out stupidity in people.
