Heskey has retired.

Good news and all but why couldn't he have retired before the world cup!

He should have retired in 2004.

Heskey is one of my real bugbears about football, a prime example of taking someone on just because they are a strapping six footer and no other reason, while young lads who are faster, better on the ball and in possession of real skill and a good football brain get turned away from the game because they are "too short" or "need to bulk up".

Main problems with Heskey are:

-Seems to be too much of a confidence player, at an club like Leicester with MON telling him how fantastic he was he could actually be quite frightening at times.... strong, quick, and not afraid to crack one in from 20 yards.
-Not quite good enough for the top level, he should have been a journeyman striker keeping sides playing 'direct' football in the league, not playing for Liverpool and England. The spotlight is on him too much there and it makes the above problem worse
-A bit ungainly when running with the ball.
