'Hide your tats, customers won't put up with it'

When I bought my 911 turbo I couldn't of cared less if the guy in the showroom had tats on his face

It is a bit silly to get tats on your lower arms, IMO. Get them where they can be covered easily to avoid this kind of thing. You can't have it both ways - if you want them where they can be seen most of them time then you have to accept that is likely to cause problems.

whats the point of having a tatoo then?

Your paying for a car not a jumped up 37 year old sales man

People are prejudiced, people judge a book by its cover and people stereotype.

Rightly or wrongly many people will think negative things about the 'sort of person' they perceive will have lots of tattoos. As a result, these people might be disinclined to want somebody they think is 'like that' touching an expensive car.

It goes against the very clinical, completely clean, minimalistic image projected by Porsche throughout its showrooms. You shouldnt underestimate how important this 'image' thing is with higher end brands - did you know for example that one prestige manufacturer has strict requirements about exactly how far apart each vehicle should be if its parked inside the showrooms?

Can he wear those cool skin/ base layer sports tops? y'know the breathable ones?
might be worth looking at as i've seen them in long sleeve.

Very noble, and I agree with you.

However back in the real world people DO judge a book by its cover, therefore to project a professional image many companies will request things like this.

One day, when nobody in the world judges a book by its cover, you might be able to walk into a Porsche dealer and find people with full body tattoos.

Until then, I suspect you wont.

it's very unfortunate but also completely true and how it currently is. can't blame the company for trying to keep their professional image they've spent a lot of money and time trying to make. the person with the tattoos should really have expected to be judged and accepted for now it may effect how people may seem him.

w he has started they have said that whatever the weather, no matter how sunny, no matter how close he is to fast moving equipment etc

if that's true maybe speak to health and safety unless their guidelines are simply no lose clothing rather than any clothing.)

For your own personal pleasure? Maybe it means something to you and you're not just "making a statement"? My wife has a tattoo on her back where she can't even see it!

I'm astonished there are mechanics without tattoos

Yea, I actually thought that too.

Ok, I have a new one, I will REFUSE any public service from a car mechanic to a supermarket checkout if the employee does not have any visible tattoos.

So now can everywhere make it a policy that all employees must have a visible tattoo?

Pretty expensive, but It does the job, and does a good job at cooling you down in the heat also.

I don't need to use mine anymore, since I joined the NHS, but once I become a Nurse I'll probably need to use them again. Not a problem, I chose to get the tattoo's, and I knew I'd have to use stuff like this to cover them up in my chosen career.

Thought you had to be "bare below the elbow" as a nurse now?

It changes with each trust. But I got written confirmation that I would be fine with my arms covered with those. Actually, I think our trust has recently relaxed the requirements of things like that.

EDIT: I just remembered, when I spoke to recruitment about me getting tattoo's, they seemed to only really care about facial/head tattoo's and tasteless/swearing/violent tattoo's on show.
