[Already have a gaming mouse]

Total Cost as of Posting = £3049.99

Yep, that's a lot of money indeed. So, what do people think?

P.S: I did want to go for either the new GeForce Titan or a GTX-690 but that would be another £400-500; and I probably can't afford to go that high as the price is already astronomical.

Do I need a CPU cooler? The watercooled case (V12 Corsair Obsidian 800D) has a CPU waterblock does it not?

Also, well, to admit it, I'm a bit of an NVIDIA fanboy - but for good reason, every NVIDIA GPU I have had has been reliable and efficient; whilst AMD GPUs are sometimes unreliable and can fail (from experience). Yes, NVIDIA GPUs tend to be expensive on the whole, but I personally think they are worth it.

Thanks for the feedback.

I could be wrong (8 Pack will probably be able to tell you for sure) but don't the R IV E motherboard have a few issues with Corsair Vengeance memory?

Hmmm, that's news to me. If that is so then I will swap the Corsair Vengeance RAM for the "TeamGroup Xtreem LV 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit" RAM.

your welcome, wasn't sure about case and cooler so thought i'd ask, better to be safe than sorry.

are you going to use liquid cooling on your video card as well?

i might have waited until the new cpu's and sockets are out in July tbh, but if you can't wait, post some pics while your building it, so we can see how you get on etc :)

Well, I probably won't be building (and buying) this until the summer so I can always wait to see if the Haswell microarchitecture is released by then.

Anyway, yep I'll post pictures of the build when I'm doing it - looking forward to it already!

Dont go Vengeance with this build go any Hynix IC that goes 9-11-10 at 2133mhz. Team is a good one yeah. I use Team Hynix IC for a lot of my benching on RIVE.

Haswell is not going to outperform SB-E in multitasking and multi card environments.

Thanks for the advice!

Oh, another question - I've heard that the Mayhems Tharssis Red Coolant can go a nasty colour and can also clog up in the tubing, could anybody confirm this? Is the "Mayhems X1 UV Red Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L" better? Or is it just better to go for coolant that probably won't clog up the cooling system like "Mayhems Ultra Pure H20 Watercooling Fluid 1L"?

Thanks, will take a look at these components and keep that build in mind. Any reason for exchanging the V12 Watercooled Corsair Obsidian 800D for the BitFenix Shinobi XL FT Case with a different watercooling system, by the way?

Hopefully, IvyBridge-E will be released before I would like to start building this system too; but from what I've seen/heard, IB-E won't come until late this year, and I really want to start the build during the summer.

If it ever does, the latest rumour is IB-E may be skipped altogether - http://www.tweaktown.com/news/28808...gen-performance-platform-to-be-x99/index.html

That would be annoying if they skip the IB-E and release the Haswell-E which may not be compatible with current top of the range X79 MoBos.

To be honest, I might just stop waiting around for the new shiny stuff and get an SB-E CPU (i7-3930K as my OP says) as if I keep on waiting for the next thing then I'll never actually get a system bought/built :D

Ooooh, that is a very tempting build. I'm still leaning towards the Corsair 800D Watercooled Case though, I love Corsair build quality and the overall design of the case. Plus this will be the first time I use watercooling so it would be more comfortable for me if OcUK implemented the majority of the watercooling system (as they do with their watercooled cases).

Why Windows 7?

I have been using Windows 8 now for 5 months and can honestly say that all of those who spoke out against it really do not know what they are talking about.

Windows 8 gives you everything that windows 7 gives you plus the bonus of more features plus windows 8 apps.

I have Windows 8 on my laptop and I had Windows 7 on my previous laptop - I much preferred Windows 7 to be honest, Win-8 just doesn't feel right on a non-tablet/mobile format. So, Windows 7 it will be - also some programs like CryEngine 3 SDK are not supported by Windows 8 and haven't been for a while, so I'd rather stick to an OS which lots of programs support.

Yeah, I think I'll wait until the Corsair Obsidian 900D comes out, or pre-order it just in case. That case looks like it'll be an absolute boss and beast, brilliant specs indeed.

It seems the 900D has been delayed quite a bit - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18493985

Indeed, I just saw that this afternoon - I'm starting the build in the Summer anyway so it doesn't affect me too much.

Also X79 work best with four sticks of RAM in "quad channel"

Really? Why?

... also remember that Win7 Home Premium can only access 16GB of RAM, you will want Pro/Ultimate for higher.

Win7 memory limits.

Well, I didn't know that - cheers!

The CPU's have a quad channel memory controller, they get huge bandwidth when all four channels are used.

Theres a guide here - http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/4...hannel_memory_performance_analysis/index.html

I see, makes sense.

Well, save for changing the Corsair 800D V12 to a Corsair 900D V12 - I believe I have my final system build plan. Note that I have decided against a GTX-Titan for now and will instead go for an EVGA SuperClocked GTX-680 which is some £500 cheaper or so; and I can always upgrade (possibly with SLI) in the future.

So, here are the components:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Dell UltraSharp U2713HM 27" Widescreen LED Monitor - Midnight Grey £529.99
1 x Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail £469.99

Total : £3,057.05 (includes shipping : £16.85).

EDIT: Just to ask, is it a bad idea to have the liquid coolant dyed as I have shown in the above specs? Or is it better to just have pure water and rely on the LEDs included with the V12 version to give the case a cool look? I ask because I've heard that the dyed water coolant can clog up and go a nasty colour.
