High End System Build Plan

So over the summer, hopefully, I should be undertaking a big project to build myself a brand new high end rig which should last for years (with future upgrades inevitable) using components bought from OcUK.

Without further ado, here are the current planned specs of the beast:

Yep, that's a lot of money indeed. So, what do people think?

P.S: I did want to go for either the new GeForce Titan or a GTX-690 but that would be another £400-500; and I probably can't afford to go that high as the price is already astronomical.

what cpu cooler are you going to use? as you cpu doesn't come with one? unless your using your case etc

Do I need a CPU cooler? The watercooled case (V12 Corsair Obsidian 800D) has a CPU waterblock does it not?

Also, well, to admit it, I'm a bit of an NVIDIA fanboy - but for good reason, every NVIDIA GPU I have had has been reliable and efficient; whilst AMD GPUs are sometimes unreliable and can fail (from experience). Yes, NVIDIA GPUs tend to be expensive on the whole, but I personally think they are worth it.

your welcome, wasn't sure about case and cooler so thought i'd ask, better to be safe than sorry.

are you going to use liquid cooling on your video card as well?

i might have waited until the new cpu's and sockets are out in July tbh, but if you can't wait, post some pics while your building it, so we can see how you get on etc :)

Hmmm, that's news to me. If that is so then I will swap the Corsair Vengeance RAM for the "TeamGroup Xtreem LV 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit" RAM.

Well, I probably won't be building (and buying) this until the summer so I can always wait to see if the Haswell microarchitecture is released by then.

Anyway, yep I'll post pictures of the build when I'm doing it - looking forward to it already!
 
Dont go Vengeance with this build go any Hynix IC that goes 9-11-10 at 2133mhz. Team is a good one yeah. I use Team Hynix IC for a lot of my benching on RIVE.

Haswell is not going to outperform SB-E in multitasking and multi card environments.

its one thing spend 3k on new platform with headroom, but isnt the rumours that haswell-e with new socket will be coming out end this year. But then if your spending 3k on a pc perhaps value is neither here nor there compared to getting what you need now.
 
Oh, another question - I've heard that the Mayhems Tharssis Red Coolant can go a nasty colour and can also clog up in the tubing, could anybody confirm this? Is the "Mayhems X1 UV Red Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L" better? Or is it just better to go for coolant that probably won't clog up the cooling system like "Mayhems Ultra Pure H20 Watercooling Fluid 1L"?

Mainly the huge price difference.

The Shinobi XL is a big case, decent cable management for a neat build, it will take the 240mm rad of that closed loop water cooler in the roof easily.

The Antec Kuhler 1220 has sufficient cooling capacity to manage the heat from a 3930K even when overclocked.
 
Hopefully, IvyBridge-E will be released before I would like to start building this system too; but from what I've seen/heard, IB-E won't come until late this year, and I really want to start the build during the summer.
