Hey guys,

I'm looking to put together the following build in the next month. I've went for a pretty high end build I just don't know if the full CPU + GPU loop is worth it.

I am really keen on a really quiet system and will be definitely water-cooling the CPU just not sure on the GPU. How noisy are these types of cards?

Any particular reason for the 1500w psu?

The cards won't be especially loud, but they will be the loudest thing in there when under load.
Watercooling the cards is probably more useful in terms of noise and performance than doing the cpu tbh, though you should obviously do both and it would be a bit of a waste not to with that particular case.

2-3ltr of X1 should be plenty. You shouldn't need 5 :)

I pasted in the wrong entry for PSU. Original post fixed.

I am so tempted to go the whole hog. My bank balance would hate me though

I just don't really have a subjective reference on how loud the GPUs are. I do appreciate they'd be the loudest thing in the case though.

Processor wise, if you wait a few weeks there will be new ones out, which will either drive the price down of the one you want or you could get the newer one for a little more.

If you are going for quiet, GPUs tend to be a lot louder than CPU coolers, so if you want quiet a full loop is the way forward. I can't speak from experience when it comes to 780Ti's though...

You'll need max a 1000W PSU, probably be fine with a 850W. 1500W is way overkill!

The RAM is overkill, not worth the money if you ask me. Go for a 16GB set of this or something.

You really should go for Windows 8, it works a lot better on newer hardware, you'll get used to the Metro look, games run better because of newer DirectX versions and Windows 7 will be end of life in a couple of years as well.

Just my $0.02 on your build. I'm going to be jumping into water cooling soon myself, looking forward to it :)

Thanks for the replies so far guys! This would be my first attempt at watercooling. Will be looking forward to it.

I did think about windows 8 but my brain screams Noooooooo!

I thought the faster memory the better? Thanks for the alternative suggestion on memory.

Once I start to order bits and stuff I'll put together a build log.

@tamzzy

Thanks for posting up a alternative build. 1 quick question on it will 2x a 240 rad be enough to cool such a loop?

I'm a complete wc noob. I only put together what I had from reading these forums and watching some online videos on watercooling. So excuse my lack of knowledge

its 1x480 + 2x240 rads ;) and yes, it'll be more than sufficient

Why 2x240 and a 480 instead of just a couple of 480's?

480 up top, 240 in the front and 240 at the bottom, i remember reading somewhere that the primo cant fit a 360/480 rad at the bottom without modding (unless its the aplahcool rads, as they are slightly narrower). of course, those with better knowledge can feel free to correct if im just spouting outta my ass again lol
