Hi Guys,

My steam account has been highjacked. The hacker has changed the registered email as well. I have completed a steam ticket with pictures of my serial keys. How long do they susually take to unlock my account? Is there any way i can get in touch with steam directly?

Was there a weakness in your steam defenses?

Im not sure how steam works in this regard but I know one thing try to prevent this from happening because there's no guarantee of it returning

Presumably you have all the credit card statements and or PayPal receipts for any games you've purchased? You can normally use them to verify your identity to Steam, ask them to check the IP against the date you lost your account, it will stick out like a sore thumb if they're from a different country or anything like that.

Alternatively if you get banned because of the hijacker hacking or anything like that, do the same thing, ask them to unban it based on the IP change which shows it wasn't you and the fact you couldn't access your account, then verify your identity with receipts

Good luck mate :)

If that happens, they won't unban you.

Yep have sent screenshots of my product keys (i only registered COD4 & MD2) so hopefully they should be able to sort me out. Just sucks, i have like 5 games linked to my steam account.

Sorry to hear it mate :(

P.S. Might wanna change the topic name, Stream, as useful as it is, is not the same as Steam!

Had that happen twice to me, sent them a picture of my serial just for the HL2 I originally installed and they done it within 2 days on both occasions. I'm sure they recently introduce a new thing as well were you verify your email, so everything is sent to that, so in future if they want to change your password they would have to have access to your email too.

You can't change your Steam password or email without access to your email account as it sends you a confirmation code. It's a new-ish feature, but there is a chance they have access to that too. Change all your passwords and secret questions asap.

They will do if you have enough evidence.

u used the mw2 hacked exe? or another dodgy no cd crack?

I'm almost too embarrised to say - was early this morning and i got messaged a url - i clicked on it and it was a clone of the steam site. Without really thinking about it i logged in and was redirected to the actual steam site. Really stupid i know.

I did think it was odd that i got emailed notifying me that my password and email had been changed, but there was no automatic was to switch it back.

Hope you get it sorted soon mate!

Have to say it's pretty harsh of them to just ignore the evidence you give them as proof that it's your account - specially if you've spent a lot of money through steam ... very unfair!
