High Octane Unleaded?

Genuine question why is there no standard term for 99 octane fuel or is there?

95 octane = Premium
97 octane = Super
99 octane = whatever the company wants to call it????

Shell call it V-Power, BP call theirs Ultimate 102, nobody else sells 99 Ron or higher in the UK do they? (Tesco don't count)

EN228 needs to be 95 RON minimum, anything sold in the EU under 95 ron wont meet EN228 and in theory isnt approved for use in vehicles by most OEMs.

Where sells less than 95RON in Europe anyway? I don't know of anywhere.

Russia.

Here's Dimitriov Korbodoskovaninovich filling up with some 92:

Pretty sure some parts of Germany do? Would imagine some eastern countries do as well.

I have just got a copy of EN228:2008 which supersedes EN228:2004.

One of the key changes is :

'Premium unleaded petrol' becomes 'unleaded petrol'.

I guess most forecourts now just say Unleaded too - not that I have actually looked.

What do you mean by "Tesco don't count"??

Well basically a lot of Jap car users that require high octane dislike Tescos because Tesco super is for want of a better word "fake", its not higher quality they just put an octane booster called ethanol (5% which is the most they are allowed to add by law) in it to increase its octane rating, Shell V-Power doesn't contain ethanol and I *think* BP Ultimate 102 is the same however what Tescos have basically done is take their premium unleaded and boost its rating with an additive which means it wont cause knocking on a car that needs 99, but as the is less actual petrol than in V-Power the MPG will be lower in comparison.
