If it is failing to re handshake (4k60fps4:2:0) when games go full screen using Direct3d11 interface, then will it also occur for full-screening other software that can use d3d such as mpc-hc.
Maybe there are windows 10 drivers, as well as the tv firmware and nvidia drivers that might be part of the problem.

(as a heads-up, for tv checkout, are there any Direct3d12/dx12 benchmarks or games that might be worth running - this is meant to be the windows 10 benefit - no ?)

Ok I have called up JL and they will be taking the TV back. All the low-mid range TV's are slapping the HDR label without having a 10 bit panel and just the ability to process the content. I have decided to only look at 10 bit 120hz panels now. This means I may have to double my budget and I am willing to do so. What are my options now? Samsung KS8000, Sony Xd90 series? 2016 range Panasonic's and LG's any good?

Most will be 8Bit+. I did find a Panasonic TV with a 10Bit panel but the reviews was rubbish.

Then you have 120Hz 10Bit driving a 8Bit panel.

That's right. Most of the 120hz panels are 8bit or 8bit+frc. Only top of the range TVs for every line up feature 10 bit and easily cost around 1500£ for a 55" panel. How much I am losing on HDR detail by just settling for a 8 bit panel instead of 10 bit?

Ok I sent the Sony 55xd7005 back and picked up a Samsung 55KS7000. It is going at an amazing price at the moment given that it's a 10 bit panel.

Unfortunately I am having the same issue as with Sony; i.e. no signal 4K@60hz 4:4:4. I have set HDMI UHD 'ON' and also tried selecting the HDMI input as PC. It can only do 4K@30hz 4:4:4. Very same symptoms to be honest.

Leaves me every reason to suspect my gpus now. I have reinstalled windows to eliminate any issues there but no luck. I have two gtx 980's and same result when connected to both. Really hitting a brick wall now.

The Samsung 55KS7000 with HDMI UHD switched on and HDMI input set as PC does 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 8bit when connected to a GTX 1050Ti. However, one needs a proper HDMI 2.0 cable, as the required bandwidth is about 14 GBit/s.

Well I am through 4 different cables as of now of varying lengths; all high speed rated at 18gbps and over. The shortest one I have is 1.8m long. I am going to try it with a 0.9m cable.

As you say maybe the gpu's or pc has a problem (since 4K@60hz 4:4:4 8bit, although it never works on TV's, does work on your 4k monitor until you full screen the game) can you remove one 980 and try that ? maybe the power supply is having issues

I don't want to go down the avenue of physically removing the gpus as they are water cooled and it will be a lot of hastle taking everything out. PSU shouldn't be an issue as system performs without any problems when DP is being used.

Can you confirm what Nvidia driver version you are on? What cable?

As I said before I have tried 4 different high speed hdmi cables and no luck. Just received and tried with a 0.9m long Amazon Basics High Speed cable and still no go. Only improvement with this shorter cable is that instead of no signal, screen flashes and display every 5 seconds or so when doing 4K@60hz 4:4:4.

4090 on 850w = BOOM
My KS8000 went back due to losing signal all the time on 4k60 4:4:4. Glad it wasn't just me.

The Sony android tvs like mine all stutter 4k60 4:4:4 from a pc every now and then but it's better than the total non compatibility of the one-connect box on the Samsungs. (only one I've not heard go bad yet is the KS9000 which is £1500 for 49" but probably the same)

Otherwise you've got Panasonic but only the DX802B £1300 and DX902B £2000 are good enough one is 8 bit with some zonal dimming edge lit and one is 10 bit with full array dimming (although it's actually 512 zones)

Or........................it could be our 980s....................................I use EVGA do you?

I got Galax hall of fame 980s. Since others are able to do flawless 4K 60hz 4:4:4 on the similar TVs, my bet is on either nvidia drivers or 980's. I got exact same symptoms on both TVs that I have tried with my PC.

This is on 375.70 WHQL (375.86 WHQL is out today but I still have not tried it). The cable is a Cablesson one certified for HDMI 1.4a (15.2 gbps).

There is no stuttering so far as I can see, and the image is very stable. Perhaps the 10 series Nvidia cards support HDMI 2.0 a bit better than the 9 series.

That must be it - I reckon these card which I bought on the exact launch day of the 980ti possibly have a lower revision. I might mess about with the bios from other newer released evga cards with same boards.

when I had the Samsung I tried so many expensive cables and none fix the problem and swapping the tv wont fix the problem. Upgrading to a 1080 will though I reckon.
