Nah, Dead Space is overrated. It's a jump a minute, but no overall sense of immersion IMO.
What's your problem? The game failed to live up to the hype and brought nothing new to the table.
It's not cool to hate GTA IV, it was just a really big let down.
I missed this new direction thing with GTA, what was it?
Apart from the phone there was nothing new about it and LOADS of things were removed from it in comparison to SA! Its not cool to hate it its FACT.
What has innovation got to do with anything? Especially on consoles.
What innovation did Gears of Poor 2 bring to the table? What was the fantastic evolution of gaming that Call of Duty 4 brought us?
Both mediocre games with archaic gameplay and yet GoW2 made this list and CoD4 was/is raved about..

I felt it had bags more atmosphere and feeling of immersion than that 95% er Bioshock i'll say that.More realism - gameplay and graphics? Not exactly groundbreaking stuff though.. thought it was quite good but definately not worth 98%

I'm not a fan of Gears either, but COD4 was a fantastic game which was backed up by it's continual popularity. It was far from mediocre.
Point of discussion here is that GTA IV was an absolutely massively hyped game which got a ludicrously high reviews because the reviewers didn't have the balls to slate it.
What was so good about it then for you to love it so much?
Rubbish. You do realise that Metacritic scores are a weighted average of many reviews don't you?
So you're saying that all of these reviewers, even those who have no financial interest or are renowned for being particularly critical or harsh, didn't have the balls to disagree with the consensus? ridiculous.
GTAIV did everything it promised. You're getting confused by general hype and your own excitement. It's your own problem if you got your little panties in a twist in anticipation and couldn't appreciate the game for what it is.
Fantastic story (Houser is a great video game writer), brilliant graphics, hilarious multiplayer with a good group of friends and immersive world. I logged over 300 hours on San Andreas (mostly multiplayer, over some years) so was a huge fan of it, but its totally different beast to GTAIV - and IV is better off for it. Looking forward to starting all over again with the PC version.
Did Saints Row 2 appeal to you more with it's childish approach?
Start a Poll or something "Did GTAIV deserve an average review of 98%".

Well, their reviews are too high. You only have to listen to the majority of people (read: not in bed with GTA) to realise this. Hell look at the user score on there, 8.1, what does that tell you.
In your opinion. It appears to be you who has their "little panties in a twist" because no-one likes your precious game.
To me the game looked pretty and had decent driving. I'm not one for long drawn out stories as I'm there for the fun.
Driving round doing cumbersome missions constantly is not my idea of fun, previous GTAs were not like this, they have variety and I enjoyed it. Playing IV I got bored quickly which never happened to me in previous versions, I couldn't put the thing down.
Just because SA was brilliant that doesn't mean IV is too. Just because you love IV it doesn't mean everyone else has to, accept not everyone thought it was absolutely fantastic. People had genuine criticism, it was and still is the general opinion is GTA IV was never as good as people expected it to be, so I'm alone.
Oh, you're so mature. For the record, I played literally 5 minutes and couldn't live with the tearing, I enjoyed the first though, just like I enjoyed all previous versions of GTA.

I dont think thats just here. I cant understand how you can claim GTAIV to be ground-breaking and has gone in a different direction tbh, Id say its a MAJOR cut-down version of SA, infact its GTA 3 with nicer graphics and an accessible mobile. Then stating COD4 as mediocore. I understand its opinion based but Im seriously struggling to see your logic.
Do you honestly think GTA deserves 98%? Thats like 2% away from perfect bbq1.edit: FACT.

I think you'll find it's very much an OcUK trend to 'slate' the game, other "gaming communities" I frequent the balance is the other way around.

I have to quote this, gta4 was not new direction for the games industry, nor was it new direction for the GTA franchise
I don't care what amazin new coding ideas they have, fact is (do'h) that gta4 was/and still is quite a boring game to play. Regardless of the techincal ability of it, it bores the pants of me and many others
Hell, for example, me and Anders0n play FIFA religiously, we should love repetitive gameplay, but we both seem to hate GTA4
