Highest Revving Road Car?

So did no-one see the post about Tesla doing 14k or is this now "Whats the highest revving current production car that isn't bike engined, a ****el or electric?"? (Is using 2 question marks grammatically correct there?)

It's also not true, they rev to 9k, 8200 for peak power.

I don't think your right, could have sworn mine limited at 9500k and I've found online references that seem to back that up.

RX-8's sound fantastic in a tunnel at 8000+ rpm

Nope, the 2 question marks are incorrect. Your text should be rephrased to something along the lines of

So did no-one see the post about Tesla doing 14k or is this now a "What's the highest revving current production car that isn't bike engined, a ****el or electric"?

You are asking 2 questions and reporting another. The reported question would loose it's mark. You could possibly add another after the first question, as follows

So did no-one see the post about Tesla doing 14k? or is this now a "What's the highest revving current production car that isn't bike engined, a ****el or electric"?

but the reported question would still loose it's mark.

a grammar pedant might also correct the beginning of the sentence to

Gumpert Apollo has a redline of 7400, dunno when/if limiter kicks in.

Enzo does 8000 on the red, not in production but not sure if same engine used elsewhere.

My brothers 2008 M3 convertible, tuned to 360bhp with a full ceramic exhaust revved to around 8500 if im not mistaken...im pretty sure we hit the limiter on more than one ocassion while he was making me crap my shorts last summer while visiting him in Canada:p.

Awesome car with an equally awesome exhaust note...shame he wont have it much longer as hes after a 997 911 turbo or GT2/GT3...makes far too much money that little brother of mine:p.

Westfield also did a Fireblade model. Both companies stopped the models around 2002. Caterham no longer have any bike engined cars in production.[/QUOTE said:

There is a thread on here about it

S2K - 9200RPM
RX8 - 9500rpm

Also what about the RX7 FC N/A it didnt even have a limiter :D

My understanding is that the RX8 only has a limiter to keep rotor seal wear down. The engine itself is good for about 14k rpm without problems apart from that wear, is my understanding.

Not confused at all - I said both companies stopped doing the Fireblade based cars around 2002. Caterham don't do bike engine cars and Westfield only now do Megabusa's which is what you have (and it isn't factory built - yours was a kit I believe - this thread is talking about PRODUCTION road cars).
