Hiphop fans in here?

My favorite years were the late 80's - early 90's....especially the UK stuff, Hardnoise, Red Ninja etc etc, much too much good stuff to list.

I bought a white label of 'Burial Proceedings..' last year off an auction site, but alas don't have a deck to play it

Damn i must go get my vinyl from my parents house... :D

Just read the whole thread through, and it seems there's a lot of hate directed towards 50 cent, can someone please elaborate to why you dislike him so much?

Fake, liar, below average rapper, industry marketed (meaning no talent), says nothing constructive etc. :)

Talking of UK Hip Hop, has anyone heard 'Nemesis & Arrogance Ft. Skinnyman - Change your heart'. Loving it, as seems to be the case with most things Skinnyman.

I dunno how you can say he ruined them, he took them on just as the horns of jericho was about to be released and they never released another album afterwards.

You're right, my mistake. Just read an article on ukhh.com, interviewing DJ Supreme:

Did he have any influence over your musical output once you'd signed?

None what so ever, we were in total control. In fact he loved the music and even wanted that I produce for him, we just never got round to it.

But from my point of view, after releasing such greats as 'Hold No Hostage' and 'Doomsday of Rap'....how can you create such bilge as 'Don't go with strangers' & 'Phantom of the Opera'?!!

But we all know where Kamanchi Sly ended up......Pied Piper

*sighs*

Dont go with strangers is the most cringeworthy track ever released, when they rhyme thuggery with buggery, it was a new low in hip hop at the time :)

Bit of a bump, but was wondering if you guys could make some album/artist suggestions?
I've liked Eminem's first two albums since release, but not really touched on much other things. I bought Straight Outta Compton and it's great. However I don't know much about the "golden age" of hip-hop and would be much appreciated if you guys could suggest some more albums for me.

Main Source - Breaking Atoms
Nas - Nas
UMC's - Fruits of Nature
Leaders of the New School - A Future without a Past
Brand Nubian - One for All
K.M.D. - Mr Hood
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions
Ice T - Power
Ice Cube - Amerikkka's Most Wanted
Digital Underground - Sex Packets
Showbiz and AG - Runaway Slave
A Tribe called Quest - The Low End Theory
Diamond D - Stunts, Blunts and Hip Hop
Gangstarr - No More Mr Nice Guy, Step in the Arena, Daily Operation
Black Sheep - A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing

That gives you a few to get started with, listen to some of them and post which kind of styles you like, then we can recommend more.

hmmm

an easy introduction into hip hop?...the above poster has given you some straight classics and amazing albums and artists to listen too, ill just add some more to the list...

common - all his albums basically (electric circus is his weakest)
jay z - Reasonable Doubt
nas - basically all his albums and his unreleased stuff!
biggie - ready to die and life after death

^those 4 are probably some of the easiest to get into (thats why i recommend them), but they're also probably some of the best hip hop has to offer. On the surface youll immediately be struck by their lyrics flow and delivery but after a few listens youll be amazed with the complexity and intelligence...honestly ive listened to them hundereds of times and i can honestly say that each time i listen to them i find something new to smirk about or drop my chin in amazement...anyways enough blabbering from me, get listening and come back

his missed out the chronic and straigt outta compton.

He already said he had straight outta compton. It wasnt a definitive list anyway, just something to get the guy started, if a full list was wanted it would run to well over 100 albums.

haven't read all of the posts on here, but if anyone's into UK hip hop/ grime then it's worth checking out Durrty Goodz - Axiom.

So refreshing to hear beats that everyone is not using, some of his lyrics are top notch aswell.

Worth a listen.
