Horses for courses :) I wouldn't say El-p wasn't original though, especially from a production perspective, I can't really think of anyone else who was doing what he was doing with on stuff like the Cannibal Ox album or even his own albums. I definitely think of him as a producer first and foremost though. Glad we agree on Dilla though :D
 
RIP Nate Dogg.

He was never the most dominant or influential of artists but if you had Nate on your hook you'd always have a hit. Dre n Snoop gotta drop a sick "mournin ma dogg" tune.
