Does anyone have any views on the HIS ICEQ SILENT range?

Bar the fact they look awesome, are they worth the extra?

I could either get a noisy XTX or an XT Silent (ie one of these)

I'm having trouble deciding on which.

Thing is apparently the XTX sounds like a helecopter.

the irritance with these stock coolers (for me) is the noise they make when they kick into high gear during a long gaming sesh!! like a damned hairdryer!!

LMAO best description yet tbh.

That's why I'm contemplating getting the ICEQ3.

If they're the same price then get the ICE-Q one and fit a VF900-CU on it if you're not happy with it. The stock cooler on the XTX will be a bit hot and loud in comparison, and you might end up replacing it anyway.

I'm not happy about doing any customs mods. Anyway, the ICEQ card has a custom fitted cooler on it. I just don't think the XT-X will make any difference when running at 1280x1024.

Depends whether you are the sort of person who wants the 'e-penis +1' of a slightly better 3DMark score or whether you just want to play games and couldn't care for an extra 2 fps.

LMFAO :D

If you're not happy with custom coolers then go with the ICEQ to be on the safe side because there is a chance you will be unhappy with the stock cooler on the other. It's down to preference and existing air-flow in the case, in some systems and to some people it sounds a hell of a lot louder than in other systems to other people.

If you get the ICEQ you're basically getting the quietest X1900 out guaranteed. :) The extra "X" in "XT-X" means "X-tra cost" and nothing more.

Yeah, you're right. It looks much COOLER anyway! (no pun intended :D)

I just realised; why do some companies spend money on pimping up GPUs when they're face down and you can't actually see them!

I went for the This Week Only Powercolor XTX with Gibbo's discount. I just thought what the heck you won't get anything more powerful for that money! :D

I just hope you were joking when you said it sounded like a hair dryer! LOL!

Yeah, I picked it over the XTX because apparently it runs much cooler and it can be clocked upto 650Mhz easily. Not that I need to do that, regarding the e-penis + 1 comment :D :)

******** CITY LINK **** ****

14:54 Wednesday, April 26, 2006 On route to delivery branch
06:26 Thursday, April 27, 2006 Arrived at Delivery Branch
07:36 Thursday, April 27, 2006 Goods loaded onto a van

WTF happened?

19:58 Thursday, April 27, 2006 Goods returned to branch

I've had builders here all day and they said that no Citylink van arrived. Anyway, don't they leave messages when you're not in?

I'm really annoyed. Did they just run out of time or something!

Give city link a call and ask them what they are playing at,im lucky as my m8 works in my area,if im not in he drops it round after work :D

Will do!

Thanks Ace. I think the "cool" factor certainly influenced my decision. In fact I think hardware companies are really stupid tbh. How exactly do they expect to sell cards if they're just the bog-standard looking ones. The reason I bought my memory was because of the LEDs, and the reason I got the ICEQ XT was because of the awesome design.
