On Sunday while driving along the A361 in Devon, a female pheasant decided to cross the road without obeying the green cross code. I hit it at 60mph and it exploded in a puff of feathers. No damage to the car other than a small splat where it's head hit the lower bumper.
In the past I've hit a fox and badger. Fox got picked up by the front right wheel and got jammed inside the wheel arch. That was fun to clean.

What animals have you hit in the past? 5 internets for the most bizarre.

Lord knows how many rabbits, one hare, two pheasants and more than a few squirrels. No damage to the car I was driving on any of those occasions, but the hare made for a fairly messy clean-up job.

A pheasant is the largest I've hit, it's like popping a balloon full of feathers.

Someone at work narrowly missed a deer. It spotted her, bolted to the other side of the road and was hit square on by a car coming the other way :(

I hit a cat that ran out from behind some hedges a couple of years ago.

It disappeared for a second so I thought I'd ran over it until I slowed down and it appeared from the other side of the car, it must have got scooped up in the bumper mouth :D

Ripped my splitter off though  I was more concerned about my car than I was the cat tbh.

A whole family of ducks in one blind bend once... Wish I could have taken them as paté fodder.

I've also had a cat on our estate, I held no remorse for it however as it killed our rabbit a few days previous.

Hit a tank of a rottweiler before. Dog left blood all over my bumper, cracked the bumper and broke the mounts. The dog yelped and ran off.

The idiot owner was on the left side of the road and as i passed called the dog which was on the right. It just ran straight out in front so i had no time to stop. The owner did not even wait to see if it was okay and legged it.

This happened to me a few months ago.

As I was coming round a bend I saw it decide to bolt out into the road?! last time I saw it was inline with my nearside wheel. Heard a 'smack' and then something bounce off the floor pan/bottom of the car. Stopped after the next bend as I was a bit shocked! Expecting to see kitty all mashed up in my grill.

Just the middle chunk of my splitter missing. Probaly broke the ******** back. No sign of it what so ever. Still annoying as the genuine splitter is £120!

Once had a squirrel fall out of a tree onto the bonnet of my CTR as I was going some pace and it bounced off cracking the windscreen of the car behind. Made an awesome noise.

I stopped and the guy was going mental at me, as if I'd done it on purpose. The squirrel was obviously a goner so I just left him ranting to it and went on my merry way.

My mate hit an owl once. Was a big one just sat in the middle of a pitch black country lane at the end of a junction. He was going some pace and just stopped dead at the junction when this huge rigid looking owl just flew off like a rugby ball. We never found it, was very odd to watch. It looked like it was stuffed as it didn't even move or its wings come out.

not me but was standing by road, big flock of sparrows... the lead sparrow moved too late and there must have been 20 dead birds / injured ones in road rolling around. car drove off with several stuck in grill

not animal, but my ex ex gf hit a biker head on RIP :(

Living in the countryside you hit loads of stuff.

Badgers (last one removed my undertray) / Rabbits / Squirrels / Pheasants.

Worst one was a pigeon... Was doing 60mph with all the windows down, the bird flew at full pelt towards the side of my car aiming right for my head, luckily it hit the A pillar and not me, cue feathers all over the place including inside the car, lucky escape really could have knocked me out.

lots of rabbits, a pheasant, funniest was finding a bird stuck headfirst in my grill and having to poke it out with a stick.. i had been driving round ages that day so he'd been there all the time haha

Haven't hit anything myself, but I've been directly behind a car hitting a squirrel that seemed to jump for safety as the car was coming. The squirrel mistimed it spectacularly, bounced of the windscreen and essentially star jumped into the ditch. Shouldn't have, but we were ****ing ourselves.

A deer did this to mine: -

£2700 worth of damage!

I've never hit anything major (badger, fox, deer) despite well over 150k miles - mostly country/motorway. Not even so much as a mangy cat or rabbit. Lucky really.

I did have a baby Blue Tit swoop in front of me out from a roadside hedge not long ago. The poor little sod was sucked/scooped into my engine bay. Being a big sook I pulled into the pub (conveniently right next to us) and had a look. I took me ages to find him, all curled up on top of the suspension. A further half an hour trying to reach him/coax him out and he eventually flew up and out into a nearby tree to recover.

He seemed OK, and was happy to pose for pictures before he went off. Hopefully he learnt a valuable lesson. :D
