I've been on the lookout for a new hard drive, and while looking through a competitors site, I saw the Hitachi P7K500. This was listed rather cheaply, and checking several reviews on the web, its apparently a very efficient drive. On overclockers, there is only the T7K500 listed.
The P version was £10 cheaper than the T one, while was listed with the same specs (cache, size, speed, etc).

Is there any real difference betweeen the two?

The P7K500 has slipped out with little fanfare. It's a 250Gb/platter low power design so will be quicker than the T7K500 with its ~160Gb platters.

I have one of those P7K500's and I cannot tell any difference tbh. But all I do is edit and save mpeg2 video and it does the job fine.

EDIT: Forgot to add I have two T7K500's aswell.
