Hi
I have two hitachi deskstar 7k80 drives in raid0. System is opteron 148, dfi lanparty expert, windows x64.

I downloaded the iso for hitachi feature tools to enable 3gb/s on my drives, burnt the disc and booted from it. It loads dos and mouse drivers etc, then says "unhandled exception", followed by some error numbers. It also mentions rtm.exe, which seems to be to do with memory managment.

The cd works fine in my athlon xp system (no serial ata unfortunately). This seems to be an unusual problem so I'm not expecting much. Any ideas? anybody seen a similar issue? Thanks

Could it be something to do with your Winx64 OS? Im assuming that the CD handles files on the drive, and it has found an anomaly that it cant recognise?

Im only guessing friend... hope it helps

jonnyg - I thought the same thing, it's still a mystery though...

Everything is fine now, both set to 3gbps! :D

The tool loaded after a few tries. It was slow to navigate but I eventually set both drives to 3gbps. Given a 1MB/s increase in sustained read, massive increase in burst speed. A must for hitachi drive owners

Glad you got it sorted buddy :). But *cough*:

400? Well lah dee dah :p (...must force more performance out of those drives)

Thats that 4 disk raid0+1 array right?
Yes, but will perform as your setup - as you know it is just two RAID0 arrays.

Still 400MB/s :p :D

...in theory

So where's my missing 60MB/s burst? I want that 60MB/s back :p

Seriously why is that? I'm just usin the sata on my mobo (lanparty expert) ie no fancy raid card. I assume you are aswell from the "nvidia" in the screenie

RAID1 increases read ever so slightly because it can read the same data from either mirror hence the slightly increased read.
